Fast Fatties

Modern

FlameBurger

Sideboard

This deck focuses on an initial quick mill with fast scaling creatures. Hedron Crab, Mind Sculpt , and Mind Funeral provides fast initial mill. Jace's Phantasm, Wight of Precinct Six, and Avatar of Woe then come in hella strong. A few turns later, Consuming Aberration and/or Loxodon Warhammer come in and finish the job if it's not already over. For comfort, Psychic Strike is there to counter when needed, in addition to further padding their graveyard. This deck is very consistent, as literally everything is a playset.

ADVICE NEEDED!

Is there a way to make milling safer in modern? I seem to be getting wrecked by ultra-fast infinite combo decks.

I have a sideboarded 4x Archive Trap helps swat fetch lands that are so popular in modern, but it doesn't seem to be enough.

Updates Add

Swapped out 4x Tome Scour for 4x Hedron Crab. Hedron Crab offered better mill throughput for a 1-drop. Swapped out 4x Mind Grind for 4x Mind Funeral. Mind Funeral offered better bang for your buck search-for-land-mill than Mind Grind. Swapped out 4x Grisly Spectacle for 4x Avatar of Woe. Avatar of Woe is always able to come out for 2B in this deck, and essentially gives you a free Murder every turn in addition to being a powerful combatant by itself. Swapped out 5x Island and 3x Swamp for 4x Dimir Aqueduct and 4x Watery Gravefoil. Solid mana fixing. Swapped out 4x Dimir Guildgate for 4x Jwar Isle Refuge. Pure Upgrade, and Jwar Isle Refuge nicely helps counter the life cost of Watery Grave. With the creature and spell changes in this update, I am now at exactly 50/50 blue and black mana costs and thus now have 50/50 basic island and swamp lands.
