This is the deck I played for my second pre-release FRF tournament over the weekend (first go round ended 3-2 and 5th place with Abzan).

I got a great pool after choosing Mardu and really lucked out with some solid synergistic commons.

Started out with a promo Brutal Hordechief into a Soulfire Grand Master - great value for the weekend!

The deck is full of cheap threats that I can continue to pour onto the field during the entire length of the match. It has a solid curve that was easy to hit with minimal mana-fixing. On top of the cheap creatures the deck also has plenty of removal, and cheap removal at that! Whenever I ran into something too big for my creatures all I had to do was bait them into defending or attacking - which isn't hard since they kinda have to, eh? On top of that removal - Soulfire Grand Master - and that's when games would more often than not end. Nothing quite like wiping the opponents big threat with a Sandblast and then gain 5 life on top of that. Great token production between Mardu Strike Leader and Mardu Hordechief, definite lifegain when Soulfire Grand Master is on the board (and a little even without), Act of Treason to pull away a big creature and swing for the kill, Mardu Charm all around beast, and Harsh Sustenance to take advantage of all those small creatures. And speaking of taking advantage - Brutal Hordechief was just a perfect fit - not having to have him attack as well was great since I got to utilize him as soon as he was dropped.

Just a great pool with a ton of way to prolong the game or win it outright. This was my first Pre-Release 1st place! Also - my first 1st place finish in ANY magic tournament. Made for an enjoyable weekend.
