Platinum Emperion doesn't prevent you from getting infect counters from damage when you're at 0 or less life. It doesn't interact with Phyrexian Unlife at all.

so long as i have 1 life that doesn't matter. It's a alternative late game life stop. Not intended to work with Phyrexian Unlife

I don't actually think melira will make your death's shadow not have -1/-1. The phyrexian unlife is a really good idea tho... You might want to add some sort of mana generator, like make your deck elves or something...

cool deck! +1

Thanks, Nogoroninj! (Though it still says this deck is unrated?!)

I didn"t include Melira, Sylvok Outcast to prevent Death's Shadow from getting the -X/-X - I included her to combo with Phyrexian Unlife - which would make it possible to for a Death's Shadow to come out as 13/13 without any fear of losing the game. It would also make opponents have a tough choice - kill the Shadow or kill Melira?

As far as mana generation goes, half the lands are Fetch lands, the other half Multi - at 31 lands, I should be able to play a land every turn and if I chose, lose 3 life every turn. Being that the goal is to lose life quickly, I want to encourage opponents to swing at me to help me get my life total down. By the time I'm about to die, I should have enough mana to play just about anything in the deck.

Hey there I saw Steppe Lynx making a realy good Job in a "simila" deck. May be it is an Option.

And look at this list an Video may be you can get some ideas there.

Hello! I really like the idea of this deck, and so, here come the suggestions.

*=strongly suggested

These are some that I can think of off the top of my head. Mana Confluence would work great here. Any of these cards could always be put into the sideboard. Good luck!

Thanks, NoviceMagician, a lot to think about with those suggestions. Here's what I'm thinking so far:

Mana Confluence - Will it work as good, better, or worse than the mana burn I already have? The Fetch lands only cost 1 life once, then I can fetch a land that I chose whether to lose life or not. Mana Confluence forces me to lose life whenever I need mana - that could be bad. On the other hand, it might be more consistent, or faster even than the suicide mana burn already in the deck. I'm considering running it and City of Brass. I haven't come to a conclusion yet, but I'm keen on hearing whatever thoughts/logic you might have about this and my thoughts below.

Ulcerate - so it's a weaker Dismember - I lose 1 less life for -2/-2 less effect, and it costs a swamp, vs, 1 colorless. Doesn't sound all that good, but in a pinch, that 1 life difference could be the difference between a win and loss, so I'm on the fence.

Underworld Coinsmith doesn't seem worth the repeated cost. There's not a lot of mana in the deck, so even though the consistency of it is nice, I don't think it would be worth paying for over casting other spells.

Athreos, God of Passage would combo really well with Wrath of God, if I had a flooded board. However, there isn't much space devoted to Creatures, and not much added by other Permanents in the deck.

Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth - In playtesting, I haven't had any trouble with my mana base in regards to having the right mana to cast any specific spell. I don't think I need it. Maybe if I was using Swampwalk.

My logic behind Mana Confluence was to keep a consistent, yet small, life-loss source until Phyrexian Unlife hit the field. I understand your points, I was looking through my own cards to try and find some that could go with this deck, and those were the first 5 I could find. One question, I see that the deck was made a month ago, but there aren't really any suggestions. Have you been deck cycling this?

yea, I have been deck cylcing this off and on. It's had 390 views. Tough crowd, I guess? I build decks in spurts. This was one of 5 decks or so I put together in a couple days. I was pretty excited about it, and made a good number of edits in the last month, but it seems to little esteem.

I love this thing. It's awesome.

I do have a few suggestions though, nothing too specific for now. I'll have to do a bit of research.

Maybe some spells that give Melira, Sylvok Outcast hexproof or shroud? That and maybe some of those Phyrexian spells the you can pay with life since you become substantially more powerful after you hit 0 life. It can both help you get there quicker and give you free spells after death.

Again, nothing specific for now. I'll get back to you tomorrow.

I'd already included some Phyrexian Mana cards Dismember, Noxious Revival, (also Thoughtseize for added removal with suicide).

I protect Melira, Sylvok Outcast with Faith's Shield, Break of Day, Vines of Vastwood and Thoughtseize.

April 13, 2015 10:59 p.m.

Ah I see, wasn't thinking about that protecting her but it totally does.

April 13, 2015 11:20 p.m.

kamarupa says... #14

I try to play her as late as I can. Hold out, draw cards, play when I'm ready/desperate. It's a long game, and scary, but also very fun.

April 13, 2015 11:22 p.m.

I like it. It's high stakes but can pay off big time when you throw down Death's Shadow and the Melira, Sylvok Outcast when your opponent isn't expecting it (like it was).

kamarupa says... #16

Yes, it's high stakes and gimmicky, but still full of potentials. I'm still kind of dumbfounded that I only drew 1 Death's Shadow in 30+ turns with no lands left and only 30 cards or so in the library. That was an epic game. I also can't believe I didn't draw a single Path to Exile that game, if my shaky memory serves me correctly.

April 14, 2015 11:12 a.m.

You drew maybe one Path to Exile, no Dismembers though.

I personally can't believe I drew nearly no removal myself.

Not sure you're still considering Mana Confluence, but if you were, I'd instead go with City of Brass as you could use this sub zero life unlike confluence.

...At the cost of a poison counter of course!

Looks good! +1

Also I've had good luck in the past with Ghostly Prison.

April 29, 2015 4:22 p.m.

kamarupa says... #19

Thanks a lot for the +1 and tips, emask

Huh, I hadn't really paid close enough to the wording differences between Mana Confluence and City of Brass - So at 0 life, I can't tap Mana Confluence, but I could tap the 'Brass.

Ghostly Prison is good, too. I'll think about it.

Hope it helps! Deck looks great as is though.

April 30, 2015 1:42 a.m.

kamarupa says... #21

thanks! I'm thinking that fetch lands are better than Mana Confluence or City of Brass because they help thin the deck. I can't fetch for Mana Confluence or City of Brass.

For sure. I keep a one of along with fetches for flavour's sake. Pretty helpful too though at times.

I know it's outside your colors, but if you're going to run a card as janky as Thraben Doomsayer it might be worth it to throw in an Intruder Alarm for the infinite tokens combo

May 8, 2015 12:45 p.m.

I'm pretty sure Thraben Doomsayer is there mainly for it's Fateful Hour ability.
