I agree. With a Drogskol CaptainMTG Card: Drogskol Captain out, Honor of the PureMTG Card: Honor of the Pure puts you out of WhipflareMTG Card: Whipflare range. With Intangible VirtueMTG Card: Intangible Virtue out and if a WhipflareMTG Card: Whipflare hits the board, all of your stuff still dies.

I understand about the Honor of the PureMTG Card: Honor of the Pure and I think it would be a good card in this deck. The only thing I see it lacking is the fact that I'm more so leaning on the Favorable WindsMTG Card: Favorable Winds in this deck which hits EVERY creature in this deck. The Intangible VirtueMTG Card: Intangible Virtues are there for the vigilance boost they give my tokens. I'll try a few test runs with the HotPs in the deck, but I think the virtues get me out of tighter jams.

Here's my question on Ratchet BombMTG Card: Ratchet Bomb would it get rid of my creature tokens since technically they don't have an actual cmc?

Not having a CMC is the exact same thing as having a CMC of zero. Ratchet BombMTG Card: Ratchet Bomb activated with zero counters on it kills all tokens, OrnithopterMTG Card: Ornithopters, MemniteMTG Card: Memnites, and transformed cards (i.e. Ravager of the FellsMTG Card: Ravager of the Fells and Howlpack AlphaMTG Card: Howlpack Alpha). Ratchet BombMTG Card: Ratchet Bomb is one of the only reasons why Werewolf decks can't really got off the ground on the tournament scene. All of the creatures (when they're on their better side) have 0-CMC and make tokens.

An analogy of why not having a CMC is the same as 0-CMC:

If you don't have any creatures on the field, what's the number of creatures you have on the field?

Ok, no doubt. Siding in my extra counters and CloudshiftMTG Card: Cloudshifts would have to be a factor in that kind of sideboarding from an opponent. Just off the top of my head I cant think of any white cards that destroy artifacts, anyone have any cards for me? (Bare with me, just got back into magic at the end of DKA after a 15 year hiatus)

Yes, i do agree that you should have 2 stony silence in the sideboard as i have seen more players siding in ratchet bombs over the past few tournaments, and in a large scale event you could never know. With that, I believe your side could use a little work to add more answers to the deck and less aggro, but I would like to hear based off your side how your sideoboard plan works out.

As for this deck I would,

3 oblivion ring, 1 mana leak, 2 negate, 2 geist of saint traft, 2 nihil spellbomb, 2 stony silence, 2 angelic destiny, 1 phantasmal image

to remove artifacts for with Revoke ExistenceMTG Card: Revoke Existence and Divine OfferingMTG Card: Divine Offering. offering is better to main over the revoke as it has instant speed over the sorcery both very good cards.

Revoke ExistenceMTG Card: Revoke Existence gets the job done pretty well, though any card against Ratchet BombMTG Card: Ratchet Bomb will have trouble keeping up. It slows you down and prevents you from cranking out tokens. If you try to kill it, your opponent just pops it and kills whatever is already out.

I totally agree that my sideboard is a bit lacking right now. The only stipulation for decks I build on this site is that I have to have the cards or be in the process of trading for them. This decks sideboard will most likely be getting a nice boost when m13 comes out. I traded my only two oblivion rings a few weeks ago and trust me I'm kicking myself in the arse now. You should never trade when you first get into the scene or back into the scene. 99.999999% of the time the decks you start building in your first weeks that you think are hella awesome and stomp your friends in casual play get stomped hard when you go to FNM. That's what I get for quitting at 13 and picking this silly game back up @ 28!! ;)

May 17, 2012 2:51 p.m.

Tell me if I'm getting this right. Abilities go on the stack(I think), so if I wait for them to crack Ratchet BombMTG Card: Ratchet Bomb then play Divine OfferingMTG Card: Divine Offering my tokens would be safe because my instant would resolve first...correct? Also kind of off topic but something I'm not 100% sure on is if I cast Midnight HauntingMTG Card: Midnight Haunting at the end of their turn am I then able to attack with the tokens on my turn?

I love spirits, and I love what you did using Favorable WindsMTG Card: Favorable Winds and the Drogskol CaptainMTG Card: Drogskol Captain

I personally use a spirit-control deck myself that revolves around Call to the KindredMTG Card: Call to the Kindred, and doesn't use tokens, 'cause having a free spirit popping each turn is always great. But I really like your take on the U/W spirits in an aggro-manner !

Might try this approach someday, seems really interesting !

Kogarasei09 what's your deck called so I can check it out and possibly +1 your deck if I like itcough

its right here spirits-control and I forgot to +1, but I just kept reminding myself, I guess the more I thought about it, the less I remembered to +1 it XD

Ratchet BombMTG Card: Ratchet Bomb still goes off, and you can't actually destroy it in response to its second ability's activation. First of all, Ratchet BombMTG Card: Ratchet Bomb is sacrificed as part of its cost (note the placement of the colon in the rules text). By the time your opponent announces that he/she is choosing to activate its second ability, Ratchet BombMTG Card: Ratchet Bomb is already off of the board and in the graveyard.

Secondly, effects exist independently of their sources. For example, if you hit a Primeval TitanMTG Card: Primeval Titan with Doom BladeMTG Card: Doom Blade after the land-fetching trigger went on the stack, Primeval TitanMTG Card: Primeval Titan would die but its controller would still get to search for two lands afterwards.

Ok, that all makes sense. I can't wait till October for the cycle. Coming in mid-cycle sucks!

Besides that, i dont know why u have CloudshiftMTG Card: Cloudshift on the sideboard... ill change that to 2 Righteous BlowMTG Card: Righteous Blow and 2 Oblivion Ring.

May 21, 2012 6:05 p.m.
