Sideboard

Maybeboard

Amusing power-matters deck that wins through combat damage with big creatures, landfall pinging, and Jarad's ability. This deck explodes as early as turn 3 and leaves an incredibly solid manabase for you to reset your board in case of a board wipe or Gitrog's removal. It also has protection and recursion, so it's difficult to remove your threats.

An interesting aspect of the deck is that most of its beaters/sac fodder creatures have certain drawback that compensates for their low cost and high power. By sacrificing them, one can circumvent that setback and get ridiculous value out of them.

I am also trying to maintain a slight "desert" flavor. A neat trick I accidentally found is bouncing back MH3´s MDFC lands to my hand with Arid Archway to use them for their non-land effect later.

Also, you don't always have to sac your creatures to Gitrog. You have to be strategic and decide when to beat face and when to sac for value.

Some card highlights/interactions:

Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord is the hidden commander in this deck. Once the Gitrog monster has been identified as the value engine of the deck and starts getting targeted/removed, play jarad and sacrifice a big creature to deal the final blow to all your opponents. You can always discard it in case you have to reduce to maximum hand size, and return it to your hand by sacrificing lands, which you will have plenty. Comboes nastily with Wall of Blood.

The Skullspore Nexus fits perfectly in this deck, doing double duty by having a discounted mana value (you will always just pay 2 for it), doubling the power of the Gitrog or the sac fodder, and replacing the sacrificed creature for another token equally powerful.

Ghalta, Primal Hunger also usually just comes down for 2, and is a great beater and sac fodder.

Fanatic of Rhonas, Selvala, Heart of the Wilds and Gwenna, Eyes of Gaea will ramp for insane amounts of mana. And Goreclaw, Terror of Qal Sisma will discount by 2 generic mana the cost of most of your creatures, which already have a low cost, leading to explosive turns.

Finally, an advantage of this deck is that its core is really budget-friendly, so you don't have to spend much on it. Of course it can be improved with CEDH cards like tutors and mana accelerators, but that's boring.
