So this is a deck about drawing cards, making a huge Chasm Skulker, and sacrificing it to shock my enemies to death with Purphoros, God of the Forge. Sounds like a gimmick deck, right? Well, this deck actually can win without playing a single island due to some amazing synergies that I noticed by accident while making this.
For example, it might be a little hard to recover from a turn 1 Elvish Mystic, turn 2 Goblin Rabblemaster, then turn 3
Shaman of the Great Hunt
.
Here's an explanation for each card:
Chasm Skulker - Obviously, meant to get big and make many squids
Hooded Hydra
- Works about the same as the Skulker, but doesn't get as big, although it's a beautiful target for an early Life's Legacy
Hardened Scales - Works wonders with
Shaman of the Great Hunt
,
Hooded Hydra
, and especially Chasm Skulker... It triggers EACH DRAW.
Shaman of the Great Hunt
- Gets my things bigger, as well as drawing cards
Monastery Siege - Protection OR Card Draw
Bow of Nylea - Utility card, great against burn, but mostly here to put more counters on things
Purphoros, God of the Forge - Main win condition
Goblin Rabblemaster - Applies pressure, is a target for their removal, is ridiculous with the God or Shaman out, and it is hard to come back from a turn 2 Rabblemaster for many decks
Collateral Damage
- Sac outlet, removal. Works with Rabblemaster if you don't have a Hydra or big Skulker at your disposal
Life's Legacy - Sac outlet, massive card draw
Elvish Mystic - All these 3 drops make this card an all-star
Temur Charm
- Utlity card that can be used to push through damage, destroy a creature, or counter something devastating
No sideboard yet, but I'm thinking some Whisperwood Elemental for boardwipes (it also wins games), more Monastery Sieges, Negate,
Ranger's Guile
, Xenagos, the Reveler against apposing Rabblemasters (or if they can't deal with it), Feed the Clan or another Bow of Nylea against burn, and Surrak Dragonclaw against control or weenie decks.
