The goal is a low budget Modern Deck that is themed around feathered furry com'in all up in the face of any suck'a who attacks you. Play creatures during their combat as removal or at the end of the turn to pseudo haste out 'pingers whose innocuous venom will poison your foe, toxic avenger style, through recurring 'whenever a creature deals combat damage' effects. Your opponent will have to be a total psychic type to deal with this poison, son!
Open the early game with Birds of Paradise, that will make any opponent worth their salt fall asleep under the cliche of T1Birds; They'll be resting on their laurels and not prepared for these tight moves. You can retaliate against early aggressive decks with Winged Coatl starting turn 2. Or if they are sitting on their thumbs, set the board state with Bow of Nylea or Bred for the Hunt. Keep a constant light pressure with you various birds and flying snakes, beating the mug of any blocker with a blush of death.Late game, steamroll with Thrummingbird's proliferation and that alone will demand immediate removal.
Don't be too surprised when your opponent starts wiping the board in desperation, 'Wrath effects slinging turn after turn in vain from their trembling hands and moist with the sweat of their sopping brow. This deck can pick itself back up and strike back with only a single one of any of its mid-range cards. Patagia Viper raises a miniature army all by itself for a second attack wave, synthesizing with Bow of Nylea and Oran-Rief, the Vastwood. And speaking of synergy, a 'It's Showtime' Stolen Identity acts just like the Jem and the Holograms in this Retro-Saturday morning Power-Hour, copying their best creature-counter following removal and demanding another immediate answer through it's recurring Cipher.
River Kelpie is a strange card, I'll admit. Two of them moved in and now I can't get her or her friend away from of my 'Vastwood. In more situations than I can count, 'ole River Helga and River Louise will plop down and never leave the board. Each time they die from board-wipes or blocking, they'll come back and give you a card draw. You can take off the -1/-1 counter and give them another'other lease on life with a doctored Ohran or with booster shot from Bow of Nylea.
I know what you're saying, "where the beef?! this deck is all wienie with none of the white!!" Well frand, that's where Fleetfeather Cockatrice flies in; just when your opponent stalls the game and smirks his teeth at you, Flash in Fleetfeather and tell him/her to suck on this peacock! That 'Monstrous' from nowhere is no joke, no matter how hilarious it might be.
