Okay, so this is a pretty sweet deck; and yes, I did read you description, lol. I did the same exact thing for my angel deck Silver. BUG is my second favourite colour combo. I like your use of Guardians of Meletis and Scourge of Skola Vale . Also I like how you chose to use GU cards to add blue rather than use separate mono-blue cards, I had trouble finding blues that fit in BUG. Also, I was going to suggest Mortal's Resolve , but then I saw it on the sideboard! xD And I'd like to note that it will not protect against Merciless Eviction , as it states that it exiles those permanents, not destroys.+1 for making this in Standard.

@cmskinny Thanks for the correction, I didn't realise Merciless, although Im not to worried since its not used as much as supreme verdict. Don't forget to +1 btw.

Out of curiosity, why 9 sources of black mana when you only need 1 black for corpsejack AKA vagina face ? Perhaps you could take out one or two swamps for more blue or green and maybe another vagina face.

You know Kalonian Hydra won't attack twice because you untap with Kiora's Follower , right?

@Takeachansey, first off, +1 for the name lol. Secondly, thanks for the tip. What do you suggest I do to make the deck better?

Thanks haha :P

Well, I took a look at it, and I noticed that you already have a lot of ramp creatures, like Elvish Mystic , Sylvan Caryatid , Kiora's Follower (pseudo-ramp), so why not reduce the mana base to 21 or so and make all your mana rampers a 4 of? That way, if worse comes to worst, you can feed your dorks to the hydras. and they're nice chump blockers if it comes to that too.

Just my two-cents.

Plummet doesn't do anything against Blood Baron. Control plays blood baron and if they're at 30 and you're at less than 10 it doesn't matter if you kill the blood baron. I would take them out for Arbor Colossus if you're genuinely worried about fliers, because it also does something when you're both in top-deck mode or your opponent has some sort of big guy out. Also, it has synergies with your corpsejack etc. from monstrous.

I don't really like it in the board and would probably replace with a 4th Mistcutter Hydra and 2 AEtherling for control, because control will break up your synergy and ruin your day- so you need cards that force them to deal with you.

I hate taking out land for ramp creatures as suggested above, though I would take out a guardian for a Kiora's follower. Kiora's follower is really, really good because it ramps and combos and is also a 2/2, which people often forget about- it gets there.

I also feel like Unravel the Aether is not brilliantly well placed. Mono black has a lot more to worry about from Primeval Bounty, which you should probably be putting in instead.

You definitely need a playset of Garruk, Caller of Beasts . Garruk is really, really, really good in this deck. Drawing 3-4 cards off him is one of the best late game plays. I'd cut to 2 simic charms for this- if you're struggling with removal you have plenty of stuff in the board. Speaking of that, what does Mortal's Resolve actually do that mending touch doesn't? You'll be doing that in response to removal, so at least go up to 4-2. Kiora or Jace should be main-deck over bow of nylea. Both do everything you want, and are card advantage versus control.

I'd probably cut the remaining mortal's resolve for 2 Thoughtseize . That way you can potentially bin their Supreme Verdict and save all your guys rather than just one. The reason I wouldn't play 4 is this deck doesn't actually want to trade one-for-one very much because the deck is mostly synergy and they don't get drawn off a garruk

Also, though Guardians of Meletis combo is fun, I'd maybe cut one more to go up to at least 3 of Prophet of Kruphix . Prophet is just insane.

@UnspokenSaints Thank you so much for your detailed advice. I have read it all and I agree. I have just made the changes, however I will add another Garuk in when I have one. Additionally, I don't want to replace the Bow of Nylea . I absolutely love that card, as it has won me many games and is so versatile.

@UnspokenSaints. I also though that Mortal's Resolve gave protection to all my creatures. Thanks for clearing that up lol. I would been failing hard.

@Nutsii

I can see that Bow of Nylea has some great versatility- which is why I argued for Jace or Kiora which can do multiple things. I do see your point though. It is a good card.

And no problem, was just passing and this is one of my favourite archetypes, so I thought I'd help you out.

how do you feel about Axebane Guardian ? you're already running quite a few defender, and he works well with Kiora's Follower .

@Frayace This deck has no problem with mana, Axebane would be a waste of space. Thanks anyway. If you like, don't forget to Upvote.

I think you need to embrace the dark side of this deck a bit more. If you're splashing black just for Corpsejack Menace , its opening up a lot more opportunities that you should look into. Abrupt Decay , Golgari Charm , Putrefy , Varolz, the Scar-Striped , Far / Away could all fit nicely into this deck, most of which give you some more killing power to remove any troublesome creatures/enchantments/artifacts that could be keeping you from building up your game-winning 50/50 mutant hydra. Golgari Charm is especially good for wiping out token armies and herds of mana dorks. I'm not sure if you find your deck is weak to creature removal, but if Simic Charm doesn't prove to be enough, Mizzium Skin is amazing for protection as well. If you're willing to spend a bit, Master Biomancer is an absolute powerhouse. Ordeal of Thassa and Ordeal of Nylea could also be helpful, if you're looking for some card draw or mana ramp with the added bonus of putting more +1/+1 counters on your creatures. Lastly, from experience, Bioshift is one of the most powerful, versatile combat tricks you can have in a counter/evolve deck. It can salvage counters from a dieing creature, move counters onto a blocked/blocking creature, or move them onto an unblocked creature for a killing blow. It's especially wacky when you have a Corpsejack Menace on the field. Also, if you're looking for some spell counter, Spell Rupture works quite well in an evolve deck.

I'm saying most of these things with confidence since I had a deck very similar to this (Simic with a splash of black for Corpsejack Menace ), then eventually dropped black all together due to it making the deck too janky and erratic and came up with Biomancing in the Street, but immediately got bored with it and came back to BUG with Math: The Gathering, this time with more of a focus on black, and I find it worked way better than the original BUG build, and way more powerful and fun than the straight Simic build. I see that you have playsets of the appropriate shocklands, which is something my BUG deck is lacking, so I really think there's a lot of potential with it, and encourage you to embrace the dark side. If you make any of these changes, report back! We BUG-evolve deck players have to stick together!

@TySherwood I already have a Golgari deck, that why I was changing it up a bit. Check out my 1+1=4 (Extreme Fun GG) deck. Although that you very much for the Mizzium Skin , I will definently add that if targets become a problem

Nutsii says... #15

@TySherwood Also the reason im not using golgari removals is because my creatures can handle the big stuff anyway, so it will force them to block making them lose a creature, while I can just trample through without dying. And if they try burn or destroy, I can make biggest or hexproof with simic charm. Only problem is board wipe, that why I got mending touch and aetherling.

The mana requirements may be a little tough but Wall of Frost is much better than Guardians of Meletis . Other than that I agree there are some small tweaks needed but I just can't really see what they are. Going a little further into black may make this much stronger :)
