Haha, what a surprise! I didn't expect anyone to see this just yet.
Trust me, I know that's not enough land, I'm trying to find out what's really worth keeping in here so I can fix the mana base.
About the general...I really don't know who to use. I have Karona already, and I can't seem to get my hands on a Child lately, so I'm just going to try it out for a bit.
5 color general's run pretty thin so, it almost sucks trying to choose one.

I agree with jjmac about the general, I would recomend just about any other one. Especially if you are going up against a tribal deck like slivers or elves.
Also for your lands I would recomend a full set of dual lands, at least the cheap 10 ones and then some fetch lands to get them out quickly. Also the naya lands would be a good adition too.

What lands are you referring to? You kinda lost me...can I see an example?
December 1, 2010 11:11 a.m.
sure, dual land: Godless Shrine , naya land: Crumbling Necropolis , fetch land: Marsh Flats . Also Ancient Ziggurat would be a good addition.
December 1, 2010 11:21 a.m.
Ok, well I've got he alara lands already, and the shock lands are really expensive, but I may check out those ravnica duals...
The ancient zig would be a nice inclusion.
December 1, 2010 11:23 a.m.
thats true that they are kinda expensive, but you will always be able to resell them later on and I doubt they would depriciate in value seeing as the older ones are more expensive than the new ones, but if you run a set of all dual lands and then 5 fetch lands that is a possibility of around 3 land colors you could produce with each fetch land.

I see your point, but financially I don't think I want to do that right now...only because I think if I buys them for this mana base, I'll want them for all my edh decks haha...
December 1, 2010 11:37 a.m.
lol, I guess if you were to do it for all of your decks that would be expensive. Me personally I just have a single set for my edh decks and then I proxy all the others in as I go for my other decks so that way I only need a single set. I would play them legacy too, but legacy is too expensive. That is why I like EDH.
December 1, 2010 11:42 a.m.
here is a good idea to try out, try the Jund Panorama set of lands out. they are slow, but will allow you to get almost any land you need with the dual lands mixed in. And if you are set for colors you could always just play them as colorless lands.
December 1, 2010 12:14 p.m.
I thought about those too, and I think I'm going to give them a try when I get my hands on them.
December 1, 2010 12:51 p.m.
After play testing this several times against my other decks...it seems to do nothing.
I thought it'd be a great idea because, basically in almost any situation, your spells would have come into play abilities that trigger every time you cast them.
Unfortunately the deck is not aggressive and unfocused. I may or may not re-do this as just black and white.
December 2, 2010 12:58 p.m.
I wouldn't think you necessarily need to redo it, it just needs tuned a little bit. Check out the cards with tutor in the title, they let you search your library for cards and find them, really good in EDH. Also you might want to try out some shrines. They can come in handy in EDH if you get them out early enough.
December 2, 2010 1:54 p.m.
never mind about the shrines, I see they are already there, just missed them before.
December 2, 2010 1:56 p.m.
The thing is, even if I did have tutors, I don't know what I'd tutor for. Like I said I feel like the deck is unfocused...like it doesn't accomplish anything with the cards it has.
December 2, 2010 3:17 p.m.
You might wanna try and search the Ravnica block for those split mana cards. It would really help your deck's options. Terramorphic expanse and evolving wilds helps your mana colors. Borderposts are also good for this. If you can get your hands on mox opal you could play a little more artifact heavy to trigger the metalcraft.
Finally you probably need some sort of theme. Since you're already playing a lot of black, maybe reanimation to cheat your big creatures out?
December 6, 2010 2:58 p.m.
Well, in the artifact mana producing department I think I'm pretty well off...have all the signets and obelisks, which usually pulls through whenever I playtest this.
While it's true that I don't have any direct reanimation that goes from the graveyard straight to the battlefield, soulshifting allows for recycling of almost any creature I have due to the fact that they're all spirits.
December 6, 2010 3:26 p.m.
I really like the changes you've made. Hvent playtested it but it looks a whole lot better.
December 6, 2010 7:11 p.m.
Thanks, i've ordered the few cards I didn't have, and hope to make it next week. Seems to be pretty solid at the moment. Looking to add the lifespinner though...
December 7, 2010 8:37 a.m.
This deck is a lot of fun to play. Seems to work really well together. Added Lifespinner and I haven't had any problems with mana or anything.

child of alara does not work as your commander right?because it doesn't go to the graveyard.
January 31, 2012 3:55 p.m.
I put child on the board when things aren't going well. When it dies I have the option to put it in the graveyard, triggering it's ability.

Nicol Bolas, Planeswalker. He's a friggin' machine. He may paint a huge target on you when he comes out, but for good reason.
Have you considered adding in the Innistrad enemy dual lands? Hinterland Harbor, Sulfur Falls, Clifftop Retreat, Isolated Chapel, and Woodland Cemetery have just as much right to be in this deck as the Core Set duals do.
