Thanks. I am definitely considering running him. I'll take a look at your deck as soon as I get the chance.

Deicide or Revoke Existence ? Your thoughts are always appreciated. Thanks everyone for all the great feedback!

Deicide seems like it'd get alot more use when the new set drops, Seeing as everyone will want to be playing new gods

Deicide is also an instant, that is a HUGE advantage.

Good point about it being an instant. The one thing I like about Revoke Existence is that it will also get rid of Pithing Needle or Godsend . I'm going to stick with Deicide for now, and if I see a spike of Godsend in my meta I'll have to switch to Revoke Existence .

How about Xathrid Necromancer ? He would be awesome with athreos, especially with the amount of removal going around. Also Deicide is definitely better than Revoke Existence right now. There aren't many non-enchantment artifacts going around.

Xathrid Necromancer
does work well with Athreos, but he doesn't help me with where I'm going with this deck. He doesn't increase my Enchantment count or have any type of bestow mechanic. Thanks though!

im curious about the Launch the Fleets idea with Athreos, God of the Passage because im unsure if the athreos ability triggers if your tokens die. if it does trigger then as the token cant go to hand the opponent must pay 3 life. i hope this is so as that would be super disgusting to play :) all in all seems like a solid, synergetic deck

You can't return a token to your hand, so no, it wouldn't. I mean I guess your opponent could pay 3 life if they wanted to lose life for some crazy reason. If the trigger was automatic, and it made them lose 3 every time a creature hit the graveyard without choosing, then yes, it would. But the card would be broken at that point.
I'm glad you like the deck!

No More Flaccid White Weenies!Splash for Athreos, God of Passage Enchantment deck. Fun fun fun. +1 from me.

Have you thought of Pairing Master of the Feast with Fate Unraveler ? You get a 5/5 flyer on turn three, ans while your opponent gets to draw a card, they lose life for it. Since you have Spirit of the Labyrinth . I would toss in 2 or 3 masters, since they only "benefit" once and you get 5/5 flyers galore

Master of the Feast is definitely going to receive consideration. He will be playtested in Herald of Torment 's slot. Fate Unraveler has too high a CMC and isn't really where I want to go with this deck. Thanks for the suggestion, though.

I would definitely check out a green splash for Eidolon of Blossoms , and Pharika, God of Affliction . Eidolon looks like it will draw you a card off of every non-land permanent you play except for Hero of Iroas , and Pharika lets your draw cards at instant speed off of the Eidolon, since the snakes you get are enchantment creatures.
I'll shamelessly plug my own, similar-looking deck here. It's more of a control variant, but Junk Blossoms looks to do very similar things to your list here, by the look of it.

Thanks for the suggestions, but I really want to limit this to two colors, at least for the time being.

Skybind might make for some funny shenanigans in this deck!

albeit a bit high CMC for this deck. Didn't realize that.

Yeah, I'm trying to keep CMC 3 or less. Thanks for the suggestion though!

+1 Gotta say I love the approach you're taking with the deck. How is 20 lands working out for you? Have you considered cutting or lowering the Gods Willing to up the land count at least a little?
April 30, 2014 5:49 a.m.
UpsetYoMama says... #22
Thanks! So far the 20 lands is working. Since my CMC is so low, I really don't want more than I have, because the more land, the more dead draws I have as the game progresses.
Gods Willing is really important here because it can be used offensively or defensively. The scry also helps a lot.

I was trying something similar just not quite as fast. focusing on preventing your opponent from swinging with too much. check out my Enchanted night of safety.

I'm debating on cutting 2x Gift of Orzhova
for 2 more enchantment creatures. I'm worried about kill spells mauling that combo.
I also got 1x Athreos and 2x Mana Confluence tonight, so I've almost got all the JOU cards :) I also got a Godsend, but I'm debating whether or not to run it in the deck. I still think it's too slow, as it's eating up 2 turns where I could be casting creatures and/or dropping removal cards. Either way...FNM soon!

See FNM Update #1 Above.
The SURPRISES: Aegis of the Gods was a phenomenal SB card. It actually let me win 2 games, one by denying a Thoughtseize and a Devour Flesh , the other by denying a Celestial Flare . Underworld Coinsmith was very effective in matchups against aggro and burn. Staying a little bit ahead was very important. Gift of Orzhova functioned much better than I thought it would; in one case I swung with a 13/12 flier with lifelink, first strike, and flying for the win on turn 4.
The LETDOWNS: Gnarled Scarhide
was a big disappointment. I actually found myself screwed by his not being able to block on multiple occasions. As the current deck stands, I've found that it will be very difficult to make Athreos, God of Passage
a creature (however, his utility was still good). Mana Confluence
lost me too much life.
My Proposal for changes:
MAINBOARD
-4 Gnarled Scarhide , +4 Tormented Hero . Although Scarhide is an enchantment, I think I would prefer being able to block and the Hero still fits the theme of this deck well.
-1 Eidolon of Countless Battles , +1 Thoughtseize . Upping the Thoughtseize count to 4 is important, I think. There are some cards that really hurt my deck and I just really want to get rid of them. The Eidolon was sometimes a dead card in my hand if I was only sitting on 2-3 mana and couldn't bestow him or cast him.
-2 Mana Confluence , +2 basic lands. I don't think I need the confluence in a 2-color deck, and it hurt me a lot over the long-run.
SIDEBOARD
-2 Launch the Fleet , +2 Brain Maggot . I did side in Launch the Fleet more than once to test it. It's a decent card, but it is also a risky card. It would be better as an instant. I think Brain Maggot will give me better control over the early game and in some cases force removal. It also counts as an enchantment.
CONSIDERATIONS
I am on the fence about Agent of the Fates . I only sided him in once, but I didn't play against any Blood Baron of Vizkopa . They are common in my meta and it would be my only way to deal with him, so I think I want to leave them in for now.
Okay, please comment on my potential changes! I want to know what you think!!!

very cool deck! i like your approach to aggro using the enchantment creatures. might look at Master of the Feast . he doesn't bestow but he sure applies pressure fast.
i'm working on the Xathrid Athreos deck build right now. if you have any suggestions i'd love some feedback!
