Won first place this last week at my LGS. Played Aetherworks Marvel(2-1), Temur Tower(2-1), GB contrictor(2-0), Superfriends(2-1), 4c Saheeli(2-0).
Luckily I didnt play Mardu Vehicles, even though i mainboard a weaver of lightning and some other specific hate for the deck. Mardu Vehicles is the worst matchup for fevered visions right now.every maindeck card from them beats you, minus Unlicensed Disintegration. Even
Inventor's Apprentice
can throw you off with the 3 toughness, because we are trying to get away with 4 Shock. End of the day, Fevered visions is about as playable as Temur Tower, with the right sideboard.
Goldnight Castigator
is a NONO, as is Collective defiance. The key is reducing your mana cost and pumping instants.
Fateful Showdown
is considerable (as a 1-of) BECAUSE it's an instant and can hit the player directly. I didnt use it, but it's there. The only planeswalker that you can get away with maindeck is Chandra, Torch of Defiance. Jace was in the sideboard for a little while, until i realized tapping down is never really good against control, which makes him a board for GB Constrictor, which niblis is better against; which brings me to my next topic: GB, and why
Niblis of Frost
??GB's only MAIN source of removal is Fatal Push Sideboarding will ensure no To the slaughter or ruinous path. We're a control deck with minimal creatures. so taking out Baral AND Thing in the Ice
for niblis means you HOPE to play niblis turn four, and start hitting them directly with your spells, tapping his stuff, and never giving them revolt until they tap out completely, ensuring no fatal pushes on your pretty spirit. :) This has worked for me more than once, but not every time. of course be willing the actually kill their stuff and not just race them, but racing is effective on its own, especially with a turn-3 Fevered Visisons keeping
Weaver of Lightning
is up to you, those 3 damage Shocks are really nice to have.
Any improvements to the deck to improve the Vehicles match-up will be greatly appreciated. please comment with experiences and ideas for improvement!! THANKS!!!
