Meren Grindpiece

I've set aside the usual stax package for a more midrange build focusing on value rather than combo, although less competitive it gives me a strong fallback plan if my combo gets messed with.

Combo

  1. Mikaeus, the Unhallowed + Triskelion
  2. Necrotic Ooze + Phyrexian Devourer + Triskelion

Root Psyche

Early game I'm looking for dorks into Buried Alive - This is the best tutor in the deck and wins us the game if we find an animate effect for Necrotic Ooze.

Alternatively we can buy some time with Contamination paired with a token generator;

Contamination is the best reason to play meren as we can unlock green mana with dorks and recur value with meren while everyone is locked in black.

If your combo becomes compromised then use your toolbox to deal with threats and find some sustain, notably Disciple of Bolas - dropping this guy every turn gets you further out of reach and opens your options.

Spore Frog can often render Aggressive/Tron generals useless against you for a few turns freeing you up to drop Kokusho, the Evening Star which can be sacced multiple times in a turn.

Bitter Ordeal yanks combo our opponents combo pieces and grave hate.

It's a proactive toolbox control deck that generally has multiple lines of play that are often hard to evaluate.
