Aven Mimeomancer + Kangee, Aerie Keeper would be an awesome combo and complements Thrummingbird too. Also another bird that might be interesting to check out is Gustcloak Savior

chelonian All good suggestions. I have thus far stayed away from some of the more complicated birds like Aven Mimeomancer , Kangee, Aerie Keeper and Gustcloak Savior to keep the deck focused and streamlined... But I might just have to play around with them and see what happens. Thanks for the comment and the +1.

How about Birds of Paradise ? They make mana and you can attack with them later when they get +1/+1 from Soulcatchers' Aerie

Energycore I have thought of adding Birds of Paradise although haven't yet as I just recently included Green in the deck, and I am just not sure I need the extra Mana most of the time. I will try using some proxies and see how they "fly" ;-)

Another tweak I have considered is using Distant Melody instead of Airborne Aid , even though it is slightly less Bird themed... My thinking is that I can name "Birds" for a big draw, or name "Soldiers" later in the game to keep the amount of cards drawn a bit more reasonable later in the game to maintain tempo without decking myself. Airborne Aid CAN get a bit nutso sometimes.

What does everyone think?

I think Swan Song is the most flavorful counterspell you can board in, if you do. You'd be able to counter your enemy's big thing and give them a bird.

I think most of the time, if you would draw more than four or five cards with Airborne Aid you probably already have a big advantage, so you don't need that much card draw. On the other hand, if your board is clear of birds (which can happen, especially against burn/control), you have a dead sorcery in hand. So i think generic card draw is better for competitiveness. If you want to keep the flavor, Airborne Aid is where it's at, so i wouldn't switch up.

I'm all with Flareking99's plan of Lieutenant Kirtar . His lore is awesome and he works as great defensive removal while you build up your birds. Having a cmc of 3 makes him quite affordable too.

Another card I'd like to mention is Commander Eesha . While she sits at 4 mana, protection from creatures + flying makes her a great blocker and a good unblockable finisher.

Also obligatory Dovescape mention.

Spisepinden Good suggestions, and worth considering for sure.

Skullclamp because the card draw is an unfair advantage while you fill up your hand and help pump you Soulcatchers' Aerie and Soulcatcher .

the only other card that would do wonders here is either Bident of Thassa or Edric, Spymaster of Trest . having all flyers you WILL get through and you WILL draw a lot.

I like this deck, But a good ace card would be Kangee, Aerie Keeper

Kangee, Aerie Keeper is actually pretty bad for this deck (no offense). you have to pay a total of 7 just to get an anthem effect of +1/+1 for birds. that's not a good investment. if he wanted a competitive similar effect, he could go the route of Pride of the Clouds .

Angelic, I tend to agree with Dreno33 on this one... Although Kangee, Aerie Keeper is good, I think if I was going to add something in with a cost of 7 or more CMC, it would be something more like Windbrisk Raptor ... THAT's a beastly card!

But thank you for the support and the suggestion Angelic, I love hearing other people's opinions and ideas. Please, Keep them flying in!

I must say all of you have a point...Kangee is pretty expensive, and speaking of mana I think aBirds of Paradise would do well in this deck along with Misthollow Griffin

I really like the suggestion of Birds of Paradise aswell as Pride of the Clouds , I like the deck and always have been a fan of Bant decks. I think it could use a little bit of help from some more one drops. Birds of Paradise is a really good one. Cloudfin Raptor is another bird that would work nicely in this deck aswell. It will only evolve once, but it'll allow you to swing in for 1 on your second turn and meets tribal needs. +1

also, consider adding 2 Mutavault s in place of 2 Seaside Citadel . you still have a good foundation to play green spells. The Mutavault is a bird and can be a pretty big hitter later game when you will want to make it a creature.

another land worth of consideration is Horizon Canopy . it helps with the green mana and can be sacked for a card mid or late game. Every Green/White Modern deck runs 4 for a good reason. Very, very good card.

I just thought I would say this deck has officially ascended to awesomeness. It has flown to a wonderful height.

You may be interested in this fact. Eagles use the storms winds to fly above the storm and into calmer air.

I'm liking the direction it's going. You may Favorable Winds . I have to agree with all of the Birds of Paradise suggestions.

I'm thinking of taking out the copies of Seaside Citadel and replacing them with 2x Temple of Mystery and 2x Temple of Plenty to speed things up slightly by adding 4 more Scrying cards... Does anyone have any thoughts on the matter?

April 27, 2014 1:49 p.m.

BattleWalrus says... #19

Definitely. They all come into play tapped but the additional scry is a no brainer.

Ok, so now here is my dilemma... I agree that Birds of Paradise would be smart to add, and I am also liking the sustained card drawing of maybe 2x Skullclamp and 2x Bident of Thassa vs. 4x Airborne Aid , but WHAT should I remove to make room? Is it worth losing Bird-Themed deck flavour by removing Airborne Aid ?

I guess I just feel to close to the deck and want perspective. I don't get to play this deck often and it's hard to balance vs. in-play reality.

I'm also considering adding a long-lost component back into the deck, 2x Seaside Haven for synergy with Soulcatchers' Aerie and added card draw... Maybe take out 2x Adarkar Wastes ?

I need some help and some viewers for my newest tribal deck. If you can, take a peek at the deck "Horror Show".

Keeper of the Nine Gales would help with controlling the board while Crookclaw Elder helps you with card draw.

Ender666666 says... #25

Flareking99 I did have Keeper of the Nine Gales in the deck in a much slower, and earlier incarnation, but I found that I didn't often get to actually use his Boomerang ability... In this current build, my focus is a bit more towards swarming and overwhelming the opposition as quickly as possible. Thanks for the suggestion, I may toy with it again.. I feel like I am going to HAVE to build a Bird Tribal EDH deck soon
