Ender666666 That always happens when i brew up tribal decks. There are always so many ideas left over you just want to cram it all into a beautiful Commander deck.

BattleWalrus LOL isn't that the truth... Too bad there isn't a 100 card constructed format that isn't Singleton. Could make Tribal even more insane!

Do you have any thoughts on my question in Comment #46? Specifically, what should I take out to add in some of these very good suggestions, OR IF I should even make the swaps.. ?

Well much to my dismay Skullclamp is banned in modern .. That card plus Gravecrawler = Orgasm. For you however, i'd say the change the change is all or none. The bident allows you to sacrifice creatures early on with the clamp because it allows re-use. You don't want to be killing off birds and then need to depend on their numbers to draw cards.

For the Birds of Paradise card, all i have to say is that i think you need to clean up your mana base a bit if you want to use this card to your advantage aka play it on your first turn for a 3 mana base 2nd turn. I'd maybe suggest Breeding Pool instead of your 4 green temples. Ofcourse the best cards available are the original sac lands but seeing as they are priced at their worth i don't blame you for not having them. I only have 4 of the cheapest Verdant Catacombs . As for making room for them, hmmm. I'm not sure i see the Utility in Derevi, Empyrial Tactician . i'm not sure what your target is really supposed to be. Also, Judge's Familiar are what Cursecatcher is to a merfolk deck. I'd say maybe sideboard 4 of those bad boys for playing against control decks. Then you could have room for your paradise and eat it too <.< .... ANYWAYS

I can't believe i didn't suggest Seaside Haven . it is one of my favorite bird themed cards. I'd also maybe suggest +1 Flurry of Wings and -1 Battle Screech . As for the Adarkar Wastes I'd say scrap them all, and keep 2 Temple of Mystery or some other green duel land that doesn't come into play tapped. Cavern of Souls = any damn mana you feel like, and plays your Skullclamp , so dirty.

DISCLAIMER I'm not the most gosu player out there, so don't take my suggestions if they sound dumb lol.

Also, be careful for things like Blood Moon . You definitely want something in your sideboard to deal with that xD

BattleWalrus Lots of stuff to consider, thank you. The part where you talk about the Bident of Thassa vs. Skullclamp vs. Airborne Aid is a little unclear. Do you mean that you think it should be either the Bident OR the Skullclamp but not both since they are counter intuitive? (I think that's what you meant)

Regarding Derevi, Empyrial Tactician , her use is MASSIVE. Being able to untap lands to cast more stuff, of creatures to act as blockers after attacking is pretty sweet... A pseudo-vigilence or Candelabra of Tawnos of sorts...

I do like a lot of what you say though... lots to consider.

I kinda miss my bird deck! This brought lots of good memories back haha. I still think you need to think about Lieutenant Kirtar he was a a huge help in my deck

Adamusual I agree about Lieutenant Kirtar and will try to acquire a couple and see how he sits in the deck.

Hey there Ender666666. Sorry about the confusion surrounding the Bident. I was saying you don't want to run Skullclamp and Airborne Aid together because Skullclamp will be sacing your birds to draw cards and it would be more beneficial to draw into a Bident at the point than and Airborne Aid imo. good luck! cant wait to see what changes you make :-D

BattleWalrus et al, what does everyone think of this proposed deck list:

Versus the current one (saved her for posterity's sake):

I know it totally counteracts with this deck, but I find a Wing Storm would be hilarious here. Just.. death by birds to everyone. Find a way to Personal Sanctuary ize the damage, and you can 1-shot someone! :D

That was definitely not a serious suggestion; just really funny in my opinion. Great deck though! Love the tribal aspect! +1 :)

A_Magikarp LOL. That's a funny card, I don't recall seeing it before.

Does anyone have suggestions for the sideboard? I kind of just threw it together from the leftovers of the deck and a couple things I thought would be generally useful, but I would love other ideas.

With Coat of Arms this deck might take off :-P

Ender666666 says... #14

rcrimmins LOL nice pun.. My main problem with Coat of Arms is that it could be more beneficial to my opponents depending on the match up and what kind of deck they're playing.

I'm glad you added skull clamp, you will not regret it

Oooh I think Major Teroh would be a flavourful sideboard addition against Black decks!

Aven Brigadier Bronzebeak Moa Soraya the Falconer Shared Triumph Keeper of the Nine Gales Emeria Angel Aven Mimeomancer Gravitational Shift Airborne Aid Celestial Gatekeeper Just some suggestions. The Falconer actually buffs up your birds, because with the new creature type rule change, all falcons are now considered birds.

The name alone deserves a +1 :) Great deck!

Bmooreman All good cards, but many of them have been in the deck and then removed as I tweaked it. Thanks for the suggestions.

CurdBrosBrewingCo Thanks for the +1 and compliments! Any suggestions for improvements to the sideboard?

May 17, 2014 11:36 p.m.

We are Modern players, so I'm sure there are amazing options out there we know nothing about. In white, we pretty much always suggest Leyline of Sanctity simply because it shuts down any deck that (a) does damage to you, (b) targets you to destroy your hand, etc. (RDW, Rack, Scapeshift in Modern, Storm, etc.). Without knowing how many Vintage decks kill you via targeting you; this may not be applicable to your Meta.

Rest in Peace is a GREAT card that I think pretty much works in any format. It's just really good graveyard hate.

Without knowing the current Vintage Meta in depth, there is not a ton of great improvements we could provide; but the deck looks pretty darn good as it is!
