Coerced Confession is too inconsistent to be a practical card and having it as a 1-of is rather pointless.

Voidwalk is a good card but the only time when it would be beneficial in this deck is to flicker a Balustrade Spy with a Shadow Alley Denizen on the field. With only two balustrade spies and 1 voidwalk this situation is very unlikely and so again you could afford to loose the Voidwalk . Not only that but flickering (i.e. exiling-and-returning a creature) conflicts with the deck's focus on cipher.

I see what you're doing with providing temporary un-blockability with Shadow Alley Denizen and Hands of Binding (probably the best cipher card ATM IMHO) but you could do with upping the amount of innate unblockability. Bringing your Deathcult Rogue (who trigger the denizen) up to 4 would be a good move as would adding an Invisible Stalker or-so.

Unless a deck is built around playing out your hand every turn, Whispering Madness is a bad inclusion. There's a good chance you'll have a larger hand than your opponent (and thus grant your opponent card advantage) and the "mill" is insignificant.

Out of the cards in your side board, the only one you should consider is Midnight Recovery . With only 18 creatures there's a good chance you won't have a creature to encode your cipher spells onto but at least this one will help with that.

If you want to take this deck modern, Oona's Blackguard and Noggin Whack are fun :D Otherwise here are the Rogues in standard ordered from best-to-worst as voted by the gatherer (official card database) community http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Search/Default.aspx?sort=rating-&output=spoiler&method=visual&action=advanced&subtype=%20[%22Rogue%22]&format=%20[%22Standard%22]&color=|[U]|[B]

Hope this helps!

@zig13 Thank you! The information you've provided is greatly appreciated. It's nice to get more than a few cards with no real advice.

I definitely want to add in more Invisible Stalker , but I only have one of them at the moment. I'm working on getting more and will add them as I do replacing the Metropolis Sprite s.

When I put in the Balustrade Spy s, I added in Voidwalk to trigger it's effect, I wasn't even looking at the combo with Shadow Alley Denizen . I've got a couple extra Voidwalk I can add in as well to make the combo more potent. I also only tend to cipher onto my unblockable so I'm free to flicker as needed on my enter the battlefield effects, and I have a better chance of getting my cipher spells cast.

Whispering Madness is falling down to a one of. When i was playing with this deck yesterday, it wasn't doing much. While the cards were nice, it wasn't exactly helpful. Most of the mill i pulled off was coming in from sacing my tokens generated by Call of the Nightwing to Undercity Informer . I'm going to be increasing the count on Call of the Nightwing as well once i get more of them.

I'll definitely add Midnight Recovery to my sideboard as well. Thanks again for all the advice!

Invisible Stalker would be twice as good as Deathcult Rogue ... if they were the same mana cost, he's 3 times as good when he's cheaper. +2 stalker - 2 deathcult rougue. The deck doesn't have enough etc effs for Voidwalk to be extremely effective. I'd either add in a few Augur of Bolas to voidwalk, or replace it with more Paranoid Delusions . Maybe add in Wight of Precinct Six or Jace's Phantasm as some powerhouses also. Vampire Nighthawk is also a ridiculously op bomb that should be in every black deck that isn't full on aggro that's currently standard, so i'd add in maybe 1... or 2... or 4

I played a similar cipher deck and found it was to slow against aggro deck. Death cult rogues are to easy to kill, and i found as soon as i ciphered lots of spells they would get killed. Then i swapped them for invisible stalkers as they are much harder to deal with, but i found they don't do enough damage, and found i would die quickly. This is my new and improved deck if you want to have a look, i changed it heaps and found it to be much better at vsing aggro and fairs well against mid range Dimir Mill Fat creature

I'm impressed by how good this deck is for the price. Although your 3 Drowned Catacomb that are missing from calculation will probaby double the price. haha. +1
