Temur Dragons (Casual/Non-Legacy)
This deck is a work in progress and a deck I am cooking up with a cheap budget. There are no Stormbreath Dragons or fetchlands. Hell, even the red/blue dual lands are on the expensive side relative to the other color combinations of land utilized here. With Temur not being a real thing in standard since the metagame is dominated by Bant, many of the cards from DTK have become cheaper (think Sarkhan Unbroken.
The reason this deck is casual is that it is 100% standard unplayable, but I also have doubts about its efficacy in a modern, competitive format. The deck is simply too slow to compete with the combo decks and engines out there.
The Deck:
There are a lot of heavy-hitters here.
The stars of this show are Thunderbreak Regent and Savage Knuckleblade. Thunderbreak Regent is a house. In many cases, it will activate Shaman of the Great Hunt's triggered ability when it's the only thing in the sky. Knuckleblade is extremely versatile. He happily acts as your mana sink and is a 4/4 with haste often after turn 6. He even has his own steroids and evasion. Oftentimes, I will have enough mana to use Temur Charm or Domri Rade's -2 with Knuckleblade's pump ability to remove any creature I want (this includes the gnat known as Dragonlord Ojutai. Both of these creatures trigger the Shaman's activated ability -- which isn't affected by summoning sickness, mind you -- and if just one of them is out and about, you will probably be in good shape.
One nasty combo comes from Yasova Dragonclaw's activated ability and the fight mechanic. It may be mana-inefficient to use a Temur Charm (a whopping 6 mana), but Domri Rade and Yasova synergy will net you a huge advantage in the slower match-ups.
For ramp options, you have Coiling Oracles, Gyre Sages, and Rattleclaw Mystics. Gyre sages are extremely powerful with this deck and are oftentimes the main reason you can close out a game since you will have all the mana you need to play your heavy hitters, creature abilities, and importantly, Crater's Claws. This is also ignoring the fact that your 1/2 mana-dork often turns into a 4/5 by the end that you can use for your assault. You can choose to replace Rattleclaw Mystic with Sylvan Caryatid x 4 if you wish or have the means to do so. Hexproof is nice, but sometimes the extra two mana from the morph ability lets you pull off some crazy shenanigans.
