Originally this deck was intended to play 3vs1 and stand alone by keeping the field oppressed and defeat every opponent at the table at once. ut as the meta matured and improved the deck evolved into being a silent killer, going little until defeating the table as efficiently as possible.

Win Cons: Dumb Mana X-spells or Draw Out

For our x-spell wins we still want to take every opponent out at the same time so we're staying focused on Torment of Hailfire and Exsanguinate so we can effect everyone at the table without targeting. As a fall-back Oona, Queen of the Fae can help out but will require targeting opponents. Typically not a big issue but it happens often enough in my meta.

In order to abuse those x-spells we're going to need big mana! so for mana-ramp in the early game we aim to play Dryad of the Ilysian Grove , Azusa, Lost but Seeking , The Gitrog Monster , and Exploration so we can start unloading our hand. Later in the game, with Damia, Sage of Stone in play, these will each continue to help us unload cards from hand to take full advantage of Damia's draw power. We're also playing with some solid staples to keep us moving; Birds of Paradise , Solemn Simulacrum , Mana Crypt , Three Visits , Farseek , Nature's Lore , Search for Tomorrow , and Sol Ring . But the meat and potatoes to hit the volumes we need come from:

Deadeye Navigator + Palinchron (OR) Peregrine Drake

Mana Reflection + Palinchron

Basalt Monolith + Rings of Brighthearth

Or the extra spice from Unbound Flourishing

Alright, so we also want to draw every card to use Thassa's Oracle , Jace, Wielder of Mysteries , and Laboratory Maniac . We'll do this by being basic with Demonic Consultation and Tainted Pact or with the foolish mana we've produced to hit Blue Sun's Zenith and if we're feeling spicy and have Rings of Brighthearth and foolish mana then Sensei's Divining Top can get us there by copying the draw ability.

Otherwise, the name of the game is blow your load late and often. With the draw power of Damia, Sage of Stone we want to hit every upkeep with a counterspell or two in hand and that's it. So go wild and throw away those spells!

That's it, that's the deck.

Okay, so choices on counterspells and lands. A reminder of the deck's previous builds is the volume of counterspells! Fierce Guardianship is just a situationally better Negate , Flusterstorm is just a situationally better Mana Leak , Mana Drain is a a mana-ramp version of Counterspell and all of these can be replaced if you don't feel like hating your wallet. Pact of Negation is in for those times when I go all-in for an early win and need desperately to not be countered in that moment. Sometimes I don't want my opponents to do things with their creatures or planeswalkers, for those moments I pack Voidslime and Disallow . Because no, you can't activate that ability! Because we want as few cards as possible once Damia, Sage of Stone is out I like running Force of Will , Force of Negation , and (more so) Forbid strictly for hand-thinning. Oh! And Mystic Snake + Deadeye Navigator is too mean. Yes, I don't like having friends. It's quieter this way.

Land selection was driven by the need to find non-basics with Farseek and Nature's Lore and the desire to cycle them away if you drew too many in the late game. I also wanted instant-speed as often as I could, so if Leyline of Anticipation wasn't an option I wanted Alchemist's Refuge just in case. And if I went up against another counterspell-heavy deck Boseiju, Who Shelters All can take care protection. With all of the two and three colored cost spells I wanted to make sure that we could run some efficient filter-lands. There's nothing worse than being able to afford the CMC but be missing colors, so I packed Flooded Grove , Sunken Ruins , and Twilight Mire to help spread the love in a pinch.

The Maybeboard:

In Garruk's Wake is a costly but one-sided Damnation and I'm not sure the added CMC is worth it at this time.

Capsize is a troll. Therefore it's a maybe. However, I'm not sold on it being worth running while packing Cyclonic Rift .
