This is a red splash blue deck that focuses on two win conditions: 1) Burn to death and 2) Burn and fairly large creatures.
The spells in this deck are cheap to deal with creatures and upfront burn. Don't underestimate the power of multiple small burn spells.Cheap burn fills the graveyard for large Spellheart Chimera
Also, please note this is only cards I own currently. I'm going to test it out at a FNM soon and will edit it shortly thereafter.
Combos!
Spellheart Chimera +
Oracle of Bones
- With a Spellheart Chimera down, an
Oracle of Bones
can either pump it some more and swing for X + 3 or X + 5. Its one of the main combos in the deck.
Guttersnipe + Young Pyromancer - These two are a nice pair on board because even if your spell does not resolve, you give 2 damage anyway and get a 1/1 token.
Turn & Burn + Shock or
Spark Jolt
- With this combo you can get the full effect of Turn & Burn for 1 less. It may not seem like much but being able to remove large creatures 1 turn earlier is often a lifesaver.
Oracle of Bones
+ any instant - This combo is nice as if you do not have the correct colored mana you can still play spells. Or 5 damage each turn. Good either way.
Spark Jolt
- This, in my humbled opinion, is a greatly undervalued card. On turn 1 it can serve as a Temple of Epiphany and deal 1 damage all the while allowing you to look for more spells or cards you want/need.
Notes/How to play:
You mainly want to deal a lot of your burn early game and keep the board clear until you have an answer or clear for a swing. An ideal hand is 2 mountains and an island/temple, Chimera or Guttersnipe and cheap burn.
Try use the cheap burn to fill the graveyard for a quick, large Spellheart Chimera
Keranos, God of Storms and
Ral Zarek
allow for cheap ways to play spells and late game finishers however it is preferable not to get to this stage with this deck
