I was not expecting to come in 2nd place overall with this deck whatsoever walking into the store. I would have come in first but I got mana screwed in my second game.
R/W Tokens (2-0): Fanatic of Mogis was the star of this game. I kept getting my Flamewake Phoenix exiled from this guy LITERALLY every time I played one. But I managed to get control, let my devotion do what it was supposed to do and I won. I did realize that in a match like this, it was a big race to get him dead. Didn't sideboard anything.
U/G Devotion (1-2): This deck was interesting. Master of Waves Shorecrasher Elemental Frost Walker Stratus Dancer etc. etc. etc.I took game 1 easily and he was fighting to stay alive the entire time. Game 2 I got stuck on 2 lands and lost very quickly. Game 3, however, I lost on my own behalf. I mulliganed to 6 cards, drew a 6 land hand and kept it. I was too worried about going to 5 that I panicked and I really should have mulliganed. But, though, I got him down to 2 health but I was stuck drawing lands and I ultimately lost.
Abzan Midrange (2-1): You're typical, everyday 'omfg it's a Siege Rhino' type of deck. I did not think I'd beat this guy but surprisingly enough, I did. Every game was close and thanks to the 2 extra Roast I put into the deck, I won the games. Took out Tasigur, the Golden Fang and Siege Rhino with it. Twice. Was great. I may have had a bit of good luck but he couldn't really do anything to stop me from keeping my devotion up. Outpost Siege was the real winner in this game. Had him down to 4 health, exiled a Fanatic of Mogis drew a Dragon Whisperer and had a Thunderbreak Regent in play. Excellent way to finish him off.
I'm running this this deck for now. I enjoyed it alot. Thinking about putting a 3rd Nykthos but haven't decided. Will keep updating. Even though no one cares
