Dude, the optimal Kaalia deck has all the expensive fetch lands, shock lands and ABUR duals. So yeah, it's a bit of a budget deck. lol. Definitely thinking about those 2 cards. Don't have the Hall of the Bandit Lord though. Thanks for the input.

A couple cards to consider:
- Angel of Despair synergizes really well with Kaalia.
- Oblation might not be a competetive-level EDH card, but it's great in casual for tucking generals and such.
- Obliterate is the perfect boardwipe when you have Avacyn out.
- Demonic Tutor never hurts.

Also, in your update you mentioned Sword of Feast and Famine , but I only see Sword of Fire and Ice in the decklist. Just thought I'd mention it in case it was an oversight.

I wish one could edit their posts on this site...
I meant that the decklist has Sword of Light and Shadow . It does not have Sword of Fire and Ice . My bad.

Drilnoth, thanks for the suggestions. Updated the deck. I have Ashen Rider there as a stand in for Angel of Despair . Don't have that card on hand yet. Oblation is good but I also don't have that card on hand as well as Obliterate . I had a Demonic Tutor but traded a couple of weeks back for Iona, Shield of Emeria . I know it's a pussy move having Iona here but she works wonders whenever I play in Commander tournaments. This deck is pretty consistent. Just don't pair me against a control deck. Any tips on how to answer to control? Thanks!

Some ideas about dealing with control:
- Cavern of Souls to make Kaalia, or a creature type of your choice, uncounterable.
- Swiftfoot Boots as redudant Lightning Greaves .
- Pyroblast and Red Elemental Blast could be good sideboard material if your meta/tournaments allow that.
- Rebuff the Wicked
- Champion's Helm
- Glaring Spotlight can be really good just for the second ability (hexproof + can't be blocked).
- Safe Passage can protect you from damage-based boardwipes.
Apart from those... well, play more spells. Eventually you'll outrun the control. :)

against control? well, i have an idea of what might help...
Reanimate and Obzedat's Aid if counter your stuff, and Sun Titan for the smaller stuff. Torrent of Souls can be very useful too
Mortify and Disenchant can get rid of some annoying stuff they might have
Erebos, God of the Dead against never ending life gain control decks (also has a nice card draw effect)
and finally, Aegis Angel to protect your stuff
lemonzy says... #1
This deck is BUDGET?! it looks very expensive if you ask me. Anyway i would recommend more hasty stuff, like Swiftfoot Boots and Hall of the Bandit Lord . hope this helps
