Firesong and Sunspeaker - Minotaur Spellslingers

Commander / EDH

Firesong and SunspeakerHey an interesting boros general

Hows it going and welcome to my Firesong and Sunspeaker deck list.

A Cool Boros General?

Boros for as long as I have been playing commander has been the bastard child of the color pie. It has always been highly limited in what kind of game plan/decks you want to create. Most of the time you were just turning things sideways and at the same time stuck with the inconsistency's of the color combination. While I do think the consistency issue will still be a problem Firesong and Sunspeaker at least give an interesting way to go about building a Boros deck.

It is pretty apparent just by rtfc how one would go about building this deck. Clearly we want it to be spellslinger with emphasis on burn spells to take advantage of our general. One of the issues with these guys though is how expensive they are. 6 cmc is pretty steep so you need to take some liberties with deck building. For example life gain cards are far worse than lets say a red damage spell. If you do not have the Firesong out you basically gain no benefit from lets say Healing Salve while Lightning Bolt can still take something down. So if were going to run lifegain cards they better have added utility or damage tacked on.

Engines

It is blatantly obvious to anyone who has messed with these colors that it suffers from being highly inconsistent with the blatant lack of draw power in the colors. One of my favorite things in magic are engines. When things work like a well oiled machine while giving insane advantage it feels great. One of my all time favorites comes from an old legacy deck called parfait.

The engine consists of Land Tax + Scroll Rack

I am sure most of you reading get why this is so crazy. Get these two online and it basically feels like you are drawing 3 extra cards for 1 every turn. I will admit Scroll Rack feels bad on its own but I would run land tax anyway so I think its well worth the inclusion.

Second up we have an engine that is not quite as powerful as the former and is usually only seen in mono-colored decks. That is the snow engine. A lot of modern players know of decks like Skred red or super old legacy players know the mighty quinn which both run off using snow-covered lands and Scrying Sheets to great effect.

I do not really see the downside to running snow-covereds to boost consistency with Scrying Sheets + Sensei's Divining Top . We also get Skred a nice removal spell which has synergy with our commander.

Finally we have what every Boros player loves the Sunforger package. Being able to use your deck as a toolbox is something that is loved by many players including myself. Considering we are running a spellslinger deck with a pretty good amount of low cmc answers it kind of just makes sense in here. Mistveil Plains + Sunforger is the most common way to recur cards in Boros decks and Mistveil Plains is insanely easy to find. Ive seen some Sunforger decks opt for things like Reito Lantern but we shall see.

rest under construction - this is all I had time to write. Will go over all cards/packages and structure this better*
