I second everything Deathstroke2791 said. Also, make sure to have creatures of every mana cost so you can play stuff every turn. You seem to have that going right now, but as you cut and such, make sure not to focus too much on abilities and cards that do cool stuff, because those can tend to be higher cost. I had that issue when I started out. From your description, look at Abzan decks. Renown doesn't really work with what you're trying to do here. Make sure all the cards in your deck work towards achieving your goal. Cards like Nyx-Fleece Ram, Heliod's Pilgrim, and most of all Hushwing Gryff don't work here. Look for cards that enter and bolster, Dromoka's Command, and cheaper removal spells like Path to Exile and Valorous Stance. Also, a common land-nonland ratio is 25 land to 35 nonland (or 20 land to 40 nonland if you're running lower mana costs which you won't be here.)

Some cards that you could use:
Map the Wastes - ramp + counter
Feat of Resistance - protect your creature or make it unblockable + counter
Valorous Stance - save your creature, or destroy another, your choice
Dromoka, the Eternal - 2 counters each combat
Citadel Siege - see above
Blossoming Sands - mana of your choice + 1 life up.
ask me in pm for more suggestions if you want

With all the one of's, this deck seems like it will be incredibly inconsistent, i recommend cutting down on the number of creatures and putting in more copies of others.

zMinwoo, I'll be working on that as soon as I can get more than one of a certain type of creature. I've put multiples in of different cards if I have them, but your comment is noted and appreciated. I will do my best to get more - do you have any suggestions for what I should have more of?
September 13, 2015 7:12 p.m.
Not a bad start at all! The only thing I would suggest is maybe cutting down on the amount of different creatures you have.
Pick 4 or 5 creatures you really like with a common theme and do multiples of those. That way, you have consistency and can somewhat expect what to draw. Example:
Etc. Etc.
To pave the way for your big guys like Dragonlord Dromoka and such.
Same thing for your other spells, just aim for more consistency. I think you have good card choices, you just need to pick less and add more of those kinds.
Another thing to think about is creature variety. Adding flyer's alongside of ground creatures can cause some diversion and create a path for damage to go through.
Feel free to ask me any questions!
I'd love to help however I can.
Blessings
Josh

These are good for G/W. Sunblade becomes a pretty easy 2/2 and the Visionary allows you to dig for your other spells.

Maybe 4x Giant Growth or 4x Titanic Growth.
These are cheaper mana alternatives for pumping your creatures. You could have them out on turn 2 instead of Dragonscale Boon which is tough to get out before turn 4.

I would take out the Auramancer. You simply don't have enough enchantments in this deck to make this card a priority. You could be spending the mana on bigger creatures that can pressure the opponent more. Also, Dromoka, the Eternal is a fantastic card that will work well with your counters theme. Overall, a very good deck for someone who has just been playing for a week! My first deck was G/W as well.

Do you think a side theme for this deck is 1/1 counters?
September 15, 2015 2:02 p.m.
I would advise continuing to build on the +1/+1 counter theme. The recent sets have some great (and relatively cheap!) cards that can make such a deck a true contender for a decent price, if that's your goal. Even if you're just looking to have fun, there's many commons, uncommons and bulk rares which can help your deck out.
Of the cards in your deck, I'd say the most important ones to get multiples of are Abzan Falconer, Salt Road Quartermasters and Servant of the Scale. Further low value cards (from a few cents up to 1 Euro/Dollar, whether you're trading or buying) to look into are Ainok Bond-Kin, Abzan Battle Priest, Ainok Guide, Ainok Survivalist, Daghatar the Adamant, Dromoka, the Eternal, Feat of Resistance, Valorous Stance, Dragonscale General, Citadel Siege, Elite Scaleguard, High Sentinels of Arashin, Inspiring Call, Sunscorch Regent and Tuskguard Captain.
Going up a tier in value (so about 1-2 Euro/Dollar) there's cards like Hardened Scales, Hidden Dragonslayer, Avatar of the Resolute, Anafenza, Kin-Tree Spirit, and Managorger Hydra.
Then coming to the most expensive ones, which you should really only get if you're sure you want to make this deck truly competitive, we have Den Protector, Deathmist Raptor, Dromoka's Command, and Hangarback Walker.
Keep in mind that these suggestions are all for the Standard format of Magic. This is the format where most of your cards fit in, where a deck like this will have the most competitive success (if you're into that), and which is the most friendly to new players.

NightingGaleA1, I'd say that is it's main theme aside from the colors. The main focus was to either get support creatures for larger ones or have small ones that gain or transfer counters around. I've also found out that Salt Road Quartermasters has excellent synergy with Lagonna-Band Trailblazer. Targeting it with the +1/+1 counter transfer gives it a +1/+1 additionally from being targeted - effectively giving +2/+2 every transfer.

never use map the waste and if you want to focus on counter deck, take out any creature that do not benifit to create counters like Auramancer,Champion of Arashin,Elvish Visionary,Whisperer of the Wilds . Add 4 hardened scales enchantement ( core to counter deck ) and 2 more Servant of the Scale ( cheap and op ) Overall the deck is budget and vulnerable to aggro or control decks

Actually Salt Road Quartermasters does not do that to Lagonna-Band Trailblazer. Because you're targeting Lagonna-Band Trailblazer with an activated ability, not a spell.

you do not cast salt raod transfer abilitie so no heroic trigger sry !

Deathstroke2791, someone told me different. I guess there goes that combo. Blegh.
September 15, 2015 2:46 p.m.
the bad thing around mana-creature is that they soke up bolsters. get 2 brave the sands instead of abzan runemarks ( +2/+2 are not counters.)

That's all good. My first deck was a heroic deck and I made that same mistake. Haha. Since +1/+1 counters are starting to come from abilities instead of spells I might suggest dropping heroic. But I will respectively disagree with Rageinn. I think you should keept he Elvish Visionarys in. You always need at least a little bit of card draw.

September 15, 2015 3:02 p.m.
if you insist in mana generator then go Honored Hierarch
September 15, 2015 3:07 p.m.
synergie with sunblade elf go : Dragonscale General, Tuskguard Captain, Daghatar the Adamant, Hidden Dragonslayer and finally Arashin Foremost to double strike them all and remain in youre counter theme

Just a couple of basic tips to start you off. A) Always try to make a deck as close to 60 cards as possible. It just helps lean probability in your favor. B) Also to help probability issues. Unless they're expensive mana cost cards always try to have 2-4 of the same card in a deck. 1 of's make things inconsistent. Considering the deck hasn't taken too much form yet (and I'll let you decide on what form it takes, that's not my place) I can't really give you advice for specific cards.
