First Deck that makes me learn about EDH

Commander / EDH Mono-Red

Well... let me tell you a story about my play group. Living in Indonesia does not mean that there are consistent play-groups that plays 'janky' deck. Every time I build a bit 'jank' in the deck, the deck is completely shut down easily by Force of Will or Pact of Negation or yea you know... good hell of an optimized decks. Frustrating? Yes... it is frustrating indeed. For that problem to be solved, I decided myself that I tried to learn EDH from scratch again with this deck.

I was quite attached to gobos deck for gobos are my 'first-experience' in MTG. This deck focuses on getting combat as early as possible, 'just hit' your gobos before stax enchantments comes in, and hit them like a truck by Shared Animosity or Coat of Arms (etc.).

Well, combos that are involved in this deck is reduced as minimum as possible to enhance and maximize 'combat' damage output. Such combos are:

  1. Cast Goblin Recruiter, find Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker,Torch Courier(if there are no haste enabler on the field), Conspicuous Snoop (order from bottom to top); in this point, casting Conspicuous Snoop to create as much copy of Conspicuous Snoop while Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker is at top of the deck. Lastly, use the Snoop's ability to copy Goblin Recruiter to get the finisher.

  2. TBA Thornbite Staff combo

NB. My firstborn deck would be Jeleva, Nephalia's Scourge theft, and it was a disaster. Then I changed it to Nekusar, the Mindrazer; even though the deck ran like madness and I became a "group-hate", I got bored because Nekusar was quite common for burning and wheeling like Ghost Rider. My other experimental decks would be Zedruu the Greathearted, Gishath, Sun's Avatar and Mairsil, the Pretender, but I really feel that something is missing while playing those decks.

My first 'optimized' deck would be Kykar, Wind's Fury deck with a bit unconventional approach. I loved playing it, and I can get to play "solitare" if the game in a single pods takes too long. However, after playing those for about 6 months, I feel that there is still something missing. When I played Kykar, I do not use any combat phase because the generated tokens are used for sac outlets only and I won by Purphoros, God of the Forge effect alike. Hence, I decided to make this deck a 'fun yet optimized' deck to be played. I will post the list for Kykar, Wind's Fury if you guys are curious.
