Since Akoum Battlesinger is the only red card in all of the Naya build, I'm probably also trying out Abzan Allies. Drana seems pretty good. Are there any slots she replaces? Or do we have to find new space?
@Nef If you run black, I would consider Bojuka Brigand a must, if you have the space. He's a 2 drop Ally with +1/+1 counter ability and a little drawback.

My ally deck is less aggressive than the naya build so I'm not sure what id take out. I know I'm gonna test taking Mirror Entity and Harabaz Druid out
September 16, 2015 12:24 p.m.
NefI tested the entity and druid and it wasn't super successful for me.
Brionac I don't think the brigand or jwari should be taken out. maybe drop 1 green ally, and depending on the meta, if you're looking at my build, take out the spellskite.

Yeah they don't do much for me so that's why I'm i'm looking forward to testing junk.

Does Champion of the Parish have a place in any ally decks, considering the majority of allies are humans?

Right now he is occasionally played in builds with Hardened Scales due to the lack of 1-drop Allies. It improves the aggro plan in so far as that you more consistently have a T1 play, but weakens your topdeck if you are in dire need for a trigger on eg Kabira Evangel to push through the latest bit of damage. I'd just wait until overmorrow to find out whether we get a new (playable) 1-drop Ally.

I didn't like Champion of the Parish in the build I've been testing. He doesn't trigger Allies and often I didn't have an optimal curve (like first turn Hardened Scales or Champion?). He's like a worse Hada Freeblade, but later in the game, he's just a bad 1-mana 1/1 or 2/2 because you don't play that many Allies anymore.

Path to Exile? Abrupt Decay? I would run at least 4 removal spells. Dismember Orzhov Charm would also be solid 1 ofs.

I think in Abzan colors Abrupt Decay is at least worth testing, since it's such a good card. There will also be no white aggro or midrange deck ever that I use that doesn't run Path to Exile, card is too strong.
March from the Tomb is a sideboard card, I think. You should also have some form of life gain in the main deck, probably Lantern Scout or Ondu Cleric.
Reflecting Pool is a nice tech though. With a Cavern or Encampment, you have a free painless all-color land.

Hmm Reflecting Pool might be a good thought on my upcoming abzan switch over.

@ Nef yup. Orzhov Charm is the reason I want at least 1 more 1 drop ally. Then all the modes will be perfect for abzan allies.
September 17, 2015 3:44 p.m.
If we get another 1 drop ally in abzan allies and it is playable, then I am going to have so much fun brewing this deck.
September 17, 2015 3:58 p.m.
And the one-drop of choice goes to... EXPEDITION ENVOY!
A lot of high priced Allies... Kinda disappoint, but Envoy made me unnaturally excited for Mono-White/Selesnya Allies.

It is pretty bad not gonna lie.. It has no rally effect so I'm not even considering it.
September 18, 2015 12:14 p.m.
Still triggers the other allies -- Still the better 1-drop of the set so far for allies.
September 18, 2015 12:20 p.m.
From the set doesn't mean from modern though. Im not sure ally decks have enough room for it
September 18, 2015 12:23 p.m.
Fair point. Not many on that list for Modern by the look of it, but it's still early days yet.
September 18, 2015 12:28 p.m.
Yeah I'm a bit disappointed.. There are a few but no cheap ones.
September 18, 2015 12:29 p.m.
At least, we FINALLY get an Ally that grants Haste to all of our Allies (Chasm Guide)
I remember seeing "Give us an Ally that grants Haste". I mean, it would be awesome if it was CoCo-able, but can't have everything.
Firemantle Mage also may not be that bad. Wannabe-Evasion from a CoCo-able 2/2.Kor Bladewhirl seems like a fine card. 2/2 for 2 that grants First Strike.
What do you think about these cards and are there any Allies I didn't mention that you think have potential?
September 18, 2015 3:45 p.m.
I think they aren't good enough to replace what we already have. Due to Hardened Scales we really want allies that get counters so I think the amount we can have that don't get counters is limited. I'm not sure if any of them make the cut. The new cards I'm using are Lantern Scout, Ally Encampment, Gideon, Ally of Zendikar, March from the Tomb (SB), and Drana, Liberator of Malakir
September 18, 2015 3:48 p.m.
Yes, those are the cards that are actually relevant. But I remember the cry for "give us an Ally that grants Haste". So I wanted to know what everybody thinks about the final card.

I'm actually excited to try out junk allies now haha. The five color sorcery is good sideboard material I think
