I use Mentor of the Meek in my ally build and it does work. It is a very incremental engine that many people will leave alone for the most part. It is definitely underestimated and can win you the game if people do not place emphasis on killing it like they would a Dark Confidant.

@Johanson69: Do you mean Angel of Glory's Rise instead of Restoration Angel?

Yeah my bad, typed Angel of Restoration at first (which got caught as wrong) and didn't pay attention.

Mentor of the Meek is fine as a 1-of, but underwhelming if you play more of him. I don't like him next to CoCo either for mana concerns. I've been testing two versions. My Lead the Stampede version is here Gideon's Resolution (Allies of Zendikar). The CoCo version plays an extra Avatar of the Resolute and an extra G/W land over the 2 main deck Thalias.
The win cons are Harabaz Druid + Mirror Entity or AEther Vial + Kabira Evangel .
Coco offers double triggers and digs 1 card deeper but is harder to cast and only nets 2 creatures. Stampede can net up to 5 creatures (and it has) and is easier to cast, but you need extra mana to cast same turn. However, a vial or druid gives you access to that mana. CoCo can give you a win next turn after it's played, but it's hard to cast even with 22 lands unless the right conditions are met, and you def can't play it with Thalia on the field. And even then, they hold dispel for it (but dispel doesn't hit Stampede). Anything more than 1 Gideon feels clunky. Hardened scales us trash imo and it's a win more card where you trade resiliency for aggression. Dromoka's Command has been great out the board and can be main deck for certain metas.
Just some of my observations thus far. Great primer bro.

Nicely formatted primer. Seriously lovely. I am curious what you think of Call to the Kindred as a support card for blue ally decks. It might not be as good as Collected Company cause well... nothing is. But as a cheap blue alternative it has won me a few games with my ally deck.

aubman02, can you link your build?
By the way, on my earlier post, my observations were in the context of the GW build I'm toying with.

Nef yeah he tagged a couple of us frequent commenters to challenge us to prove our brews on MTGO/PPTQs. Sadly I don't think I can take him up on it as I still lack a couple of relevant cards, don't have nor intend to create an MTGO account and will likely only play FNM for the foreseeable future, and that not regularly.

wolfging, Call to the Kindred is a card with a ton of value, the problem with it is twofold.
- It paints a huge target on whatever ally you equip it to. All the top tier modern decks will have some way to kill your creatures, so they'll wait until one is a threat (which call to the kindred would be) and then they'd get a 2-for-1.
- Board position. Like so many other cards that seem great on the surface, if you draw it in the middle of the game, after your opponent has cast a Supreme Verdict or just burned all your creatures away, its a dead card.
Those problems are why almost no decks (main exceptions are Splinter Twin and Boggles) play auras in modern.

Yeah, I don't intend to make an MTGO account. But I have been bringing my Ally deck to a shop about once a week. I usually top 4 with it. Although, I have been giving a little bit of extra love to my Temur Control deck as of late. Got tired of my goyfs just sitting there... never being played :P

Thank you for this - really great stuff here. I think I've read all of it, but I'm sure I missed some stuff.
A few notes:
Blue Support Cards:
Xenograft can also create a trigger with Agadeem Occultist Xenograft's CMC symbols are incorrect. You're showing 2U instead of 4U.
The spacing needs work before Mirror Mockery
Crab Umbra as a Blue Support Common Card - it combos very well with Harabaz Druid and protects the mana dork, which in my casual matchups, is usually an early target.
Intruder Alarm might also be worth mentioning in Blue Support Common Cards. A hand full of Allies can easily get played with it and Harabaz Druid
Red Support Cards:
Mass Hysteria might be worth mentioning as a Common Card for Red. Seems worth it to me at least. Being able to drop a Harabaz Druid and tap it is awesome.
If you cared to, you could take a look at my Ally deck, Grave Collusion for WEB.

Well, finally cemented a build! I'd love actual feedback, since I've been brewing for a while and am finally comfortable enough with something to post it. Any thoughts'd be appreciated!

Yeah, I ended up deciding against the whole challenge thing. It was kinda silly. I like where everyone is taking there decks. I don't think there has to be one way to play a deck, like Splinter Twin ((((cringe)))) for example. TheDuggernaught, good shot on representing at your lgs! Nef, I only mess with MODO cause my friend lets me borrow the expensive cards. I'm spoiled :-p

Soooo, Allies just placed top 16 in an SCG 5K! And it was... Jeskai?
To be fair, though, this is more a Boros deck splashing blue for Jwari Shapeshifter and Phyrexian Metamorph (!!!). Never considered the latter as viable, although I guess if you're using Vial to enable the engine instead of Company having a way to back it up is nice. Kor Bladewhirl in the mainboard is interesting as well, too, but I don't know if it's the optimal choice.

Huh...That's certainly interesting, and throws off most everything I previously thought about allies. Running without Coco is a bold move, as is using Cloudshift, but apparently it worked. Looks like his main plan was just to make everything unblockable with Kabira Evangel. At that point it doesn't matter how strong the allies are, as long as you hit with enough of them, you'll win.

Bladewhirl is actually pretty optimal believe it or not. It's sideboard for less aggressive metas, main board if aggro is expected.
In my testing, it serves as psuedo removal against aggro decks or a massive ground opening. It attracts removal in decks that run only 4-5 with no recurrence.
Also, I like Phyrexian Metamorph better than the other lord that shapeshifts (forgot his name), but I feel that either should be in the vial decks only because you don't want to open yourself up to 2-for-1s against Kommand; but since vial is already opening you up, go in. Decks that run Kommand are also usually decks that run ways to shut down CoCo. If your vial is getting removed anyways, might as well put those extra targets so that the opponent either holds the Kommand waiting on an artifact shifter, or uses it early on vial, opening you up for playing the shifter.
Taurean Mauler is pretty real too for those who aren't up on him yet.

After testing the top 16 deck without vials it's still freaking sweet. Now I have two ally decks to work on.... :3

@ehuez Skullclamp isn't Modern legal. I'd likely go for Mentor of the Meek.
