HOLY GUACAMOLE the new Ally actually is costed at 1GW. This moves him from meh to pretty damn good in my book. The fact that he can be played with Collected Company is bonkers.

Meh, I am not a huge fan. Yeah, allies tend to overextend a bit; and he can be cheated into play with CoCo. But, I am not sure he would be good in any ally shell but an all in aggressive one -- which can obviously be quite effective. Especially against decks that do not run board wipes in the main. I am just not sure he beats Kabira Evangel for the 3 drop spot. I would like him a lot more if one of those abilities he could gain was haste.
The thing I like about this is that it is a multi colored ally. means that other multi colored allies might be on the way :)

TheDuggernaught exactly. I don't think he's bad for a naya aggro shell, but more importantly he's multi-colored. I'm hoping for a UW hexproof ally, or some sort of cantrip ally

Alright, I might've been a bit overhyped back there. I think the Warleader is alright as it is a beater in the main Ally colors, allowing one to forego eg Bojuka Brigand.
I listed up some of the evergreen mechanics I could imagine winding up on some Allies, here goes:
A White/Red (maybe gold) Ally that gives the team Double Strike (insanely costed I presume).
Blue one with Scry X similar to Harabaz Druid. Other blue Allies might tap creatures from the enemy down (if their power is <= number of Allies) or allow you to cast Allies with flash (this one maybe on UG)?
Black Ally that gives the team Deathtouch. Also the ability to recurse your own Allies from the graveyard (either to hand or directly onto the field, but then with a restriction like not triggering any abilites, possibly in BG).
Red Allies could give the team Menace or Haste.
A green one that allows you to let Allies or himself fight, plus one that gives the team trample. Would love to see an enchantment-hating Ally in Green akin to Tuktuk Scrapper, but maybe with lifegain for us instead.
These would be somewhat obvious design choices colorpie-wise, any ideas on what can be expected to a certain degree? Since tribal themes seem to be coming back, maybe we see the return of Tribal cards? After all, last we saw them was in Rise of the Eldrazi (if I'm not mistaken).

I don't think he fits in mine despite him being g/w. Maybe I replace Managorger Hydra with him but mine is very counter heavy and him not having the classic ally counters effect makes him seem meh

TheDuggernaught I agree with you for the most part, it may deserve a spot as a one of, but that's it.Stanleyman I agree with you.... though i think the bird is good. Its won me a lot of competitive matches.

Apparently, Gideon's new Planeswalker card might be named "Gideon, Ally of Zendikar". I won't get my hopes up too high, but damn this would be cool.
On topic: I've been thinking briefly about Violent Outburst as a budget-alternative to Collected Company, maybe it's worth a shot testing/crafting with it? It just sucks that the only useful Ally with Haste is Akoum Battlesinger, otherwise this might change.
For control-y decks that want to stall the game, maybe consider symmetrical bounce effects? Like AEther Tradewinds and Peel from Reality. Provides the enemy with a setback and grants a guaranteed Trigger when out of gas/"chump-"blocking. Pretty janky, but it might work out for someone out there.

i like outburst.... almost a bit better the coco. I'm honestly stuck on the coco thing: I don't know how to make the deck good and still include hardened scales, vial, and coco. I think you need the extra mana from the druid to keep coco from being a dead card but it waters down the synergy and makes it hard to put spells like path or vines of the vastwood. Any thoughts?

outburst isn't as good as collected company in terms of improving board state. 3 mana to give a small +1/+0 buff + 1 creature ETB is not as good as 2 ETBs. We, as ally players should look at what cards to maximize the ETB triggers to finish the game fast. At least that is for the aggro plan.

Soooooo......I brought my allies deck to the tournament practice area and had no less than 4 ppl quit on me game one. The deck didn't fizzle, it did quite well....man, ppl need to be more tolerant of 'non-tier 1 decks'. smh...definitely peeved me off...

I was fooling around and came up with a little more midrange all in ally deck.... http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/all-in-allies-midrange/

My first FNM was during Zendikar. I brought what was my first rendition of my ally deck. The kid I played in the first round left the shop after I beat him, screaming "who the f*** plays allies?". Wound up placing 4th. Allies may not be tier one... but they sure can play with many of the top tier decks. Haters be hatin.

wooooow. that's awesome. good story. I like how I'll play online and ppl will beat me one game then quit, as if just to prove a point....smh. Haters gonna hate.

Do we want to discuss new Allies here? I think it might a bit much offtopic if we discuss every single new Ally that gets spoiled. Here's a new one anyway, a bit costly, but for what he does with an online AEther Vial oder any way to cheat in Allies, pretty good. Maybe as a curvetopper for a midrange-y style that seeks to slowly establish board dominance as opposed to beating face with small critters?

Kabira Evangel basically does the same thing except vs boardwipes... Idk I've never been a fan of allies costing more than 3 mana due to Collected Company

Its up to JLenzen but I'm down. I like this one better since he affects the other allies. Its similar to the other white 4 drop ally. I've not seen any allies that give 1-1 counters though...not sure if they will bring that back...

I personally think we have enough those with +1/+1 counters... I rather see allies with good ETB abilities to boost our reach. Like removal, card draw or some other utility for combat or survival is really good.

Speaking of success playing Allies, I have won two FNMs and placed seventh in an important tournament lately with a Selesnya build using Collected and Scales. I have also tested the Veteran Warleader and holy nuts it is better than it seems, with collected company there are some insane lines of play (to start with, you can tap allies you have just put into play with coco, giving the warleader first strike or trample at instant speed and a permanent +2/+2). Now I don't know if I should swap the Automatons for Warleaders (when they become legal, of course).

If you scroll to the very end, the author suggests his own list including Taurean Mauler, 2 MB Ondu Clerics and 4 Hardened Scales.
