Five-Color Cheating Dragons EDH

Commander / EDH* Dragons Five Color Tribal

7eeveelutions

The deck is based around "cheating" dragons onto the field by either not paying their full mana cost or not paying mana at all, or pulling them straight from the deck and putting them on the field. This is done using Defense of the Heart, Dragon Arch, Belbe's Portal, Lurking Predators, Fist of Suns , Planar Bridge, and Dragonstorm . Dragon Arch only works on multicolor creatures, but there are plenty of multicolor creatures in the deck, plus every creature except for one is a dragon to work with Belbe's Portal. Defense of the Heart works fantastic against token decks, while Lurking Predators works well against combo decks that cast a lot of spells. In addition, Planar Bridge can search for answers to things on the field since it works on any permanent, and in the event I have a lot of mana or am playing a team game, Dragonstorm can pull multiple dragons at once from the deck. Fist of Suns combos perfectly with Chromatic Lantern, essentially making all spells cost only five mana. In addition, The Ur-Dragon also lets me cheat out a dragon or another permanent every combat, and Nicol Bolas, God-Pharaoh even lets me play the top non-land permanent of my opponent's deck!

To help the deck get going, there are a variety of mana-giving artifacts and a trio of tutor spells to grab either Chromatic Lantern, one of my cheating tools, or a boardwipe if the field is not in my favor. This deck can be pretty good at wiping, as both Cyclonic Rift and Crux of Fate don't affect my field while Merciless Eviction hits whatever permanent type I desire and exiles instead of destroying. I also have Ugin, the Spirit Dragon for additional field exiles, and Damnation for a lower-cost boardwipe. However, the deck is less effective at getting rid of single permanents, although most of my instant removal spells exile stuff to deal with grave-return decks.

As far as the deck's dragons themselves go, they are all intended to work well with each other. Atarka, World Render, Ojutai, Soul of Winter , Silumgar, the Drifting Death, Utvara Hellkite, and The Ur-Dragon all have abilities that trigger for each individual dragon that attacks, and Utvara Hellkite, Dragon Broodmother, and on occasion Wasitora, Nekoru Queen can all create tokens to further increase the number of dragons able to attack. To combat removal and control, Thunderbreak Regent and Scalelord Reckoner both introduce penalties whenever a dragon becomes targeted. There's even Sunscorch Regent to give opponents a small reason not to cast their own spells, O-Kagachi, Vengeful Kami to give opponents a reason not to attack me, and Mana-Charged Dragon who lets everyone in a 4-player game help me kill off a hated opponent.

For attacking directly, Dragonlord Atarka, Hellkite Overlord, and Skithiryx, the Blight Dragonare all powerful attackers with even limited support from the other dragons.

Many of the dragons are also at least two colors to make the best use of Dragon Arch and of the ability of the commander, Ramos, Dragon Engine. There are three tri-color dragons and a pair of five-color dragons in the deck to help his ability fire, as the ten mana generated by Ramos essentially allows for a free cast of any one or two cards in the deck- especially with Fist of Suns on the field.
