Let me just say that 1- upvote for the name, and 2- Morophon, the Boundless would be a really good commander for this.

Morophon is second string for this build. His initial mana cost is too high, and he usually gets removed before I have a chance to benefit from his ability. I like him for less competitive games though.

I realy like your deck! I was wondering how removing the Lorwyn avatars affected your devotion engine. Can you still reliably enable the devotion for your gods with the value generated by Golos alone?

kalanare, the devotion engine isn't quite as effective or have an "on switch" like it did with the lorwyn guys, but cheating things out with Golos is far easier and more consistent than hoping I have enough mana fixing to cast one of the avatars.

Effectively, yes. Golos makes up for not having them and makes the entire deck more consistent.

Love the deck!! Do you have any future plans for upgrades in the foreseeable future?

I love the deck, i have a copy of weathered wayfairer and land tax, do you think it would be okay to substitute either in in place of skyshroud claim?

ImperatorFurioso Weathered Wayfarer would be the best substitution since land tax can only grab basic lands.

Batman67 No plans for updates, but it could definitely happen with new cards coming out every three months.

Was kenrith ever considered as a general for the deck?

if you put Morophon, the Boundless in then Fist of Suns makes sense otherwise not a good include

scapegoat8 I think it's a little slow for this, but I might give it a go if I can find the right card to cut!

You run no board wipes besides cyclonic and no other targeted removal, how do you deal with other people going off before you do or interacting with them? Do any specific gods help that?

Ataraxey There are four dedicated board wipes ( Cyclonic Rift , Ruinous Ultimatum , In Garruk's Wake , Elspeth, Sun's Champion .). For targeted removal I run the following: Nicol Bolas, Planeswalker , Garruk, Apex Predator , Valki, God of Lies  Flip(Tibalt side), Erebos, Bleak-Hearted , and as a last resort Cyclonic Rift .

These have been sufficient for most games I've played. I tend to be in slower playgroups that don't combo off on turn 2 or 3. But I'd be happy to include more if you have some suggestions on what to remove for them.

Hey, I've been working on a different Theros god tribal / enchantment subtheme deck with Esika as a commander - I haven't had a chance to give the deck a run yet, but I have two concerns that I think you've likely experienced if you've played this (awesome) deck very much.

The first, I don't see a huge spread in devotion (Red, for example, isn't super prominent in this deck). Do you find that you ever have issues getting the gods online fast enough, or that certain gods don't tend to provide a lot of value because you can't get them online?

Second, I'm presuming your wincon is just getting them up and swinging, have you found any unexpected synergies/abilities that work well in taking out opponents? Ex: Phenax in milling out opponents. Been considering adding certain enchantments to try and "enable" particular gods but not sure it's worth it if I'll just be swinging 90% of the time.

@greykiller Devotion in for the red gods can be a little tricky sometimes, which is why I ended up adding Altar of the Pantheon to offset that. But since only two of the gods require exclusively red devotion ( Purphoros, Bronze-Blooded , and Purphoros, God of the Forge ), they usually end up with the needed devotion through their other colors without much effort.

But overall, devotion isn't really an issue for me. Having Golos, Tireless Pilgrim as the commander, he usually poops out enough permanents every turn that I don't notice a lack of devotion when it matters. Using Esika, God of the Tree  Flip makes that deck much slower, but I do end up playing her as the commander about half of the time because of the flavor. More than half of the Theros gods are in White and Green though, so I usually end up having a couple of those in the field as creatures pretty early, and the rest of the colors just fill in with devotion as your board presence increases. Mostly you can curb any problems by being more selective with your mulligans, and that just ends up coming through experience.

As for winning, The World Tree changed everything for this deck. Before that I would usually end up winning with a big swing after dumping most of my deck on the field with Omniscience + Enchantress drawing, through Phenax mill if I was feeling cheeky, or through Purphoros damage if I got him out at the beginning of my Omniscience spill. Now it's just too easy to crack The World Tree on turn 6/7 and win with Purphoros damage.

Hey! I was wondering if you had updated your list since Kaldheim came out? Sythis, Harvest's Hand and Sanctum Weaver seem like a good fit for your deck.

Also, you said the The World Tree made winning with Purphoros too easy, but I thought Theros gods would not entre the battlefield as creatures if you did not meet the devotion prior to casting them. How do you get the devotion for all of them before using The World Tree, to assure Purphoros triggers?

@kalanare I actually added both of those immediately! Just hadn't had time to update the decklist. Check out the new configuration with Esika, God of the Tree  Flip!

As for The World Tree and Purphoros, God of the Forge, the gods will enter as creatures if there's enough devotion. Since they're all entering at the same time the, they all see that there's enough devotion and enter as creatures.

No Wrath of God? Its flavor plus a good wipe thats cheap. Might kill your enchanters but board wipes kills stuff anyways that can save your life in the early game.
