A Shadows over Innistrad Clue/Mill deck. It's fairly controlling, but for a controlling deck, runs a bunch of creatures to block, and get value from clue - related abilities, also removal bait, since there is a lot of really strong removal in standard, and I don't want people angelic purging my enchantments/journal.
Game plan: Briarbridge Patrol + Tamiyo's Journal
or Fleeting Memories
+
Tamiyo's Journal
combo. Start by getting out a couple of creatures -ideally graff mole, illuminator and Briarwood patrol or tireless tracker by turn 4. Then Tamiyos Journal. Next turn, start tutoring with the journal and getting your enchantments into play. Against control, search up a big hexproof monster (Sphinx of final word or plated crusher are options,I prefer flying to trample) and cheat it into play with the patrol (can do it at end of their turn even for effectively haste), otherwise you can mill them for up to 36 each time you tutor - if you tutor a startled awake in, it will be game over very quickly. Also considering running Linvala since I don't need to worry so much about mana costs and its very easy to get behind early - esp if I miss a land drop or a graff mole. Westbale abbey is there because I have one, and I'm making tokens, so why wouldnt I run it, and I'm splashing white because Sleep Paralysis is completely inadequate as removal.
The problem at the moment is that I have too many cards. The deck is flexible with two opposite archetypes (midrange/control) that you could switch between by boarding either the mill and some counter spells, or abunch of 1-of win con creatures as tutor targets. The question is, which do I make my main list? And can I fit in more removal?
Any advice is appreciated, but it's also pretty budget, so please don't recommend hundred dollar cards. (I'm considering Ulamog as a pretty perfect fit with the mill half, but I kind of want something hexproof because of all the exile effects around, and he's expensive money-wise.) Or maybe the new Secrets Jace
