Flubs - I Stayed All Night in the Sun

Commander / EDH Casual Lands RUG (Temur)

Megalomania

Maybeboard

Like all Flubs, the Fool decks, this deck tries go go hell bent (0 cards in hand) as soon as possible. Using Flubs as our engine, we are able to dig through our deck with every land drop and spell cast. This means we need a lot of cards that increase our max land drops per turn as well as cards that allow us to cast spells from the top of our library and from our graveyard, or in some cases, even from exile.

This deck is built around two cards: Food Chain (FC) and Displacer Kitten (DK).

Food Chain

Use FC and Squee, the Immortal to generate “infinite mana” that can be used to cast creature spells. From here, we can cast our Commander and continue casting and recasting Squee to draw until we get Grape Shot.

In case normal mana is not available, we can instead draw cards until we find DK, Eternal Witness, Lotus Petalfoil, and any 0 cmc non-creature artifact to generate “infinite mana” or just enough to cast Grape Shot.

Displacer Kitten

DK and Eternal Witness (EW) is our main combo line. These two have a strong synergy with a lot of the cards in the deck and are used generate “infinite mana” and/or draw to win the game (via Grape Shot). If, cor some reason, GS is no longer an option, we can use our infinite mana to loop Extract, Memory's Journey and Noxious Revival and exile our opponents’ libraries.

When used with DK+EW, we can use Summer Bloom repeatedly as long as we have lands and land drops available. With cards like Sylvan Safekeeper and Ramunap Excavator in play, we now have a sac outlet and a way to keep playing and replaying our lands fron the graveyard to generate “infinite mana”.

DK+EW can also be used alongside Frantic Search to dig through our entire library until we get Lotus Petalfoil and another 0 cmc non-creature artifact to generate infinite mana.

Support

Since our gameplay requires us to be hell bent, we are left with very little if any ways to interact during our opponents’ turn. To prevent s##t from going sideways, we make use of several one-sides board wipes like Mizzium Mortars, Firestorm, and Vandal Blast.

With Flubs in play and with no cards in hand, we can also use Words of Wind (WoW) to weaponize our land drops and turn them into board control. Instead of drawing after a land drop, we can simply pay 1 mana to WoW and have everyone, including us, bounce a permanent back to our hand. With the aid of our multiple land drops, we can force everyone to bounce multiple permanents per turn. We can also use Sol Ring to force all our opponents to bounce all their permanents back to their hands every time we take a turn!

Notable Exclusions

A lot of Flubs decks use cards like Eruth, Tormented Prophet to exile cards from the top of our library and cast those until the end of our turn. This, however, puts us in use it or lose it situation which I am not comfortable with hence the exclusion.
