Kezvin, I tried Martyr of Sands in a previous version of the deck. The problem was, I play out my hand too fast against most opponents which means late game it was a totally dead card.

Agreed, If you put Martyr of Sands in, then you would have to put Squadron Hawk and if you did that, you would need Honor of the Pure... now you have a completely different deck.

Instead here try this card people have not seen the power of.

Collective Effort currently in standard its mostly useless. However this is modern and you are playing Counters, Check. Its also gives removal with the same spell making it not just a junk counter card. The Enchantment removal will be doubtfully useful most of the time but you never know.

Consider Awe Strike and Archangel of Thune, maybe? I've gotten a lot of mileage out of using Awe Strike on my own 15/15+ Ajani's Pridemate getting chump blocked.

Tuskguard Captain, Ainok Bond-Kin, and maybe Abzan Battle Priest or Veteran Cathar. Now that I think about it, double strike could be great in this deck. Double Cleave and Duelist's Heritage for that.

Did you consider swapping Ajani's Pridemate for Metallic Mimic? Now you have only humans in your deck (I know I am a racist) and all of them enter the batllefield with +1/+1 counter on them when mimic in on the table.I think it gives more synergy and after all more counters than some cats ;)

For the Emperror of Mankind... wait wrong universe...

Humans all the way!

McJakub, yes I have been considering adding Metallic Mimic but I wasn't sure what to cut. I think you're right, Ajani's Pridemate makes the most sense. Thanks for the suggestion!

i disagree with fetchlands in soul sisters, i would rather have Flagstones of Trokair and Ghost Quarter

keep fetchlands. deck thinning is def viable. personally I would cut the shocks and the gavony townships. I would also cut a couple abzan falconer for 2 Archangel of Thune I do agree with ghost quarter and some flagstones. tho they are legit.

4 Flagstones of Trokair and 4 Ghost Quarter thin out the deck better. Also, 4 Inspiring Vantage should be used too.

How good is the Auriok Champion? I was also curious if you have ever used the Martyr of Sands. I used to run martyrproc and the martyr is really crazy life gain.

TheManly1, because Auriok Champion has protection from Black and Red it does not die to most of the premier targeted removal spells in Modern. I have tried Martyr of Sands, but the problem is that I tend to play out my hand quickly which makes Martyr of Sands a dead draw late game.

So what are the fetchlands and Temple Garden for? I was going to ask if you thought about splashing green for Collected Company?

TheManly1, The Temple Gardens are for activating Gavony Township. Putting counters on each creature I control is important for the Abzan Falconer win condition.

Any chance you can make a guide for a cheaper manabase version of the deck? Maybe for someone who is working to acquire the pieces.

RustBeltGames, if you wanted to make this deck more budget minded, you could drop the Fetch Lands, the Gavony Townships and the Temple Gardens and just run all basics. Or use Ghost Quarter for deck thinning instead of the fetches. With respect to the creatures, I was running Ajani's Pridemate before Metallic Mimic. I added the Mimic for more Human/counters synergy, but the Pridemate was also great. That leaves Auriok Champion as the last expensive piece. I suppose you could leave out the Auriok Champions but that would cause less life gain over the course of a game. If you still wanted to splash green (using Temple Garden or some other G/W dual lands) you could replace Auriok with Essence Warden. Splashing green for mainboard creatures would also open up the sideboard to other various options.

Why play temple garden when there is no green mana drops in the deck? Wouldn't playing plains be cheaper?
