What happened to those reports as rounds ended?

Really great deck dude, planning on getting this for my friend who really likes white decks.

malakirofgoodness, thanks for the +1 Vote! I'm happy to hear you like the deck. It's is a ton of fun to play. My favorite moments are always when I resolve an Abzan Falconer and then attack all-in for the win. No one ever expects that a 10 Uncommon will be their downfall.

Feel free to make alterations to the Sideboard to best fit your local meta, however, I HIGHLY keeping Eerie Interlude (for Control match-ups) and Pay No Heed (for Infect, Scapeshift, Burn, and Bogles match-ups). Pay No Heed does prevent multiple triggers of damage from the same source in a single turn.

If you're interested in saving some money, I also have a more budget-friendly version of this deck here, Flying Nuns -- Budget Version.

Odric, Lunarch Marshal I carry 1 in my deck now. Combos really nicely to give that flight when you really need it and do not have counters or time to get them. OR with auriok for the red/black protection.

landstalker10, Odric, Lunarch Marshal does not work with Protection.

Why dotbyou run Serra Ascendant in your deck? 1 mana 5/5 flyer with lifelink isnt bad ;)

McJakub, Serra Ascendant is a very good card, however, because I play this deck very aggressively, I found I wasn't able to stay above 30 life long enough to keep Serra Ascendant turned on. Also, its a lightning rod for removal and because was usually destroyed before I was able to impact my opponent's life total.

Honestly I dont think gavony township is worth it. It makes your manabase much more inconsistent. 20 plains would be a pretty good mana base. (deck thining with fetchlands doesnt really work fetchpands shouldnt be played for this purpose. In addition you dont really want to thin your deck at all because you want to cast 3 and 4 drops)

No Archangel of Thune? Even as a one of, it would synergize well with your counters theme (and is a beast of a finisher)

Excellent. I would just remove Metallic Mimic as I think its too slow, a horrible topdeck, and have no direct impact when arriving

Hey, since you're listed as the community guru on Soul Sisters, what are your thoughts on the new 1 cost gain life enchantment: Ajani's Welcome ?

July 14, 2018 11:44 p.m.

darleen says... #13

Serra_Sentinel thanks for the question. Ajani's Welcome has the benefit of being an enchantment, making it harder to remove from the battlefield. In a control heavy meta, it seems good. However, it has the downside of only gaining life for creatures under your control. I prefer to play this deck very aggressively so having more creatures to attack with seems better for my play style.

darleen Thanks for the response! I just saw the card and wanted to get someone's insight who's had more experience with the deck than I do. Cheers!

Have you had much luck with This? I have been wanting to build something similar. I can't make up my mind on some cards though.

Silverblade Paladin

Grand Abolisher

Serra Ascendant

Martyr of Sands

Benalish Marshal

Fiendslayer Paladin

Mirran Crusader

To name a few. Thoughts?

Forgot too that with all those knights, Knight Exemplar looks good too.

November 20, 2018 9:26 a.m.

And with so many CMC 1 cost creatures, Aether Vial looks good too.

Also, since you're area dy d splashing green, why not add Hardened Scales and Forced Adaptation.

Sorry for multiposting. I just keep thinking/remembering things because I've been trying to build a FNM viable version of this for some time now.

coffeymichael92, thanks for the questions and suggestions. My win rate by match-up is listed in my latest update if you are wondering how well the deck can win. I have won or gotten top 3 in many medium to large weekly Modern events at multiple LGSs in my area. Statistically overall, since I started playing the deck, my total win percentage is 50%. But that does include games that I lost via misplays. I did notice the more often I played, the more regularly I won.

The green splash is for Gavony Township which isn't really even a necessary factor with regards to winning games. In fact, I may even take it out (along with the Temple Gardens). Don't get me wrong, I love Hardened Scales. I played G/W Hardened Scales during Khans standard. The problem with it in this deck is it fights too hard in the one-drop on turn one slot. Ideally you want to be playing a Soul Sister or a Champion of the Parish turn one.

I used to run Serra Ascendant but because I play very aggressively (which I think is the best plan) my life total never stayed above 30 long enough to make Serra Ascendant effective. Also, its a lightning rod for removal, which can be good, but feels bad if you never get to swing. Martyr of Sands doesn't play well for me either. I tend to play out my hand too quickly to get the pay off and its a dead card late game.

I do really like Benalish Marshal and might replace it with Metallic Mimic.

If you enjoy aggressive, linear game play, this deck is tons of fun. I created a decklist for a budget-ish version if you don't want to commit to this deck's price tag. Check it out here Flying Nuns -- Budget Version.

Thanks for the quick reply, luckily I already own play sets of everything here, as I have run soul sisters, human soldiers, and human knights separate, but figure there is a way to combine them.

coffeymichael92 Cavern of Souls was a bit out of my budget but I don't miss it so I think the deck is fine without it. If you're in a control heavy meta that might be enough reason to justify the investment. Collected Company would be good but I was focused on smoother mana and staying mono white. But a splash might not be so bad.

December 10, 2018 10:52 p.m.

Yeah I'm in very heavy control meta so I'm playing Grand Abolisher and Cavern of Souls merry christmas to myself on those lol

coffeymichael92 I think this deck's biggest weakness with regards to control is sweepers/wrath effects. You have to play around them and have a way to rebuild after awards. Also, save the Path to Exile for their big threats late game whenever possible. Good luck out there!

what are your thoughts on brave the elements as sideboard card. seems like it would be good against anger of the gods or a number of other direct hate cards and can be good as a unblockable push for lethal.
