set the field aflame with a plethora of burn's while guttersnipe chips their health away for each instant/sorcery you play. meanwhile boros reckoner creates a pretty fearsome wall with his redirect ability and chandra's phoenix swings with haste in the air and returns from the grave every time you deal damage. spark trooper and warleader's helix can keep your health up and stormbreath is an ace up your sleeve if the game drags on a little too long.
Im thinking of dropping the stormbreaths and another reckoner for 2 more eidolon's and another chandra's phoenix. Also thinking of maybe dropping white and just splashing blue for Keranos cause he's just that rediculous...
Here is my result in my last FNM before i tweaked it to what i listed here:
It was a 5 round tournament based on points, no knockout/finals. My record was 2-3, though i was 1 plains away from going 3-2 for about 3-4 turns in my 3rd match. I scryed off of magma jet to try and get it and found a boros guildgate and a temple of triumph ;_;.... couldn't use either of those by the time i needed so i lost.
Match 1: 2-0 Win vs. U/B Mill
He pulled a traumitize which made me a little nervous when 24 cards of my deck dissapeared, but fizzled out after that and couldn't handle the spell damage coming at him
Match 2: 0-2 Loss vs. Can't remember 0.o...
Match 3: 1-2 Loss vs. R/G creatures (scavenging ooze/stormbreath dragon and the like)
I won the first game through guttersnipe enhanced burns and chandra's phoenix in the air. I lost the second game when he dropped primevil bounty, unable to keep up with his lifegain and supersizing his creatures. The third game I had guttersnipe out he had like an eidolon of blossoms, a courser of kruphix, and a sylvan caryitid, i had him below 10 health but i couldnt get a plains so he kept pinging me down and gaining life with courser till he hit 10 and dropped stormbreath. If i could get a plains i could've still won through boros charm for 6 and then stealing his stormbreath with act of treason for 4 in the air, but ike I mentioned earlier i scryed into two come into play tapped lands and lost =(
Match 4: 2-0 win vs. U/G/W Heroic
He couldn't get his creatures pumped up fast enough to outspeed my burns so i got the win. He got an aquious form on a decent size favored hoplite, but chained to te rocks got rid of that for me and it was a pretty smooth ride from there.
Match 5: 1-2 loss vs. B devotion
Game 1 chained to the rocks his master of the feast and he couldn't recover after that. Game two he had master of the feast out again along with dssecration demon and i had out a boros reckoner I chained MotF again, forgetting for a moment that dessecration demon has flying thinking reckoner could block him for a turn and do some damage, alas he couldn't so i lost. Third game he dropped multiple grey merchant of asphodel's and went up to 30 life. horray for black burn?? lol.
Doing some more reading on the meta and thinking up some tweaks for my deck this is the new deck list i came up with so far.
I tried to cut down on some creatures and put in things to speed up the burn. The biggest change here i think is the removal of guttersnipe for the addition of satyr firedancer. I was reading up on the state of burn and found some comments i agreed with that cemented the decision to remove guttersnipe, you have to wait for turn 3 to get him out, where he is open to just about any removal that will prevent you from using his effect at all, and if he does stay out, turn 4 is the earliest to make use of his ability, and he most likely won't be able to get any hits in by then as a 2/2. firedancer on the other hand comes in turn 2 and by turn 3 i can fling all my burn directly at their face and and still have it hit their creatures. Even if he gets hit with removal, im not in nearly unfavorable position as with guttersnipe because its a turn earlier and he costs less to bring back out, leaving more room for burn instead of doing nothing for a turn to replace guttersnipe with a new body.
Any ideas/tips/feedback towards my next FNM would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance!
