Explosive Impact replace with Brimstone Volley . Reason is if Nightshade Peddler /Izzet Staticaster kills or opponent life sac's for Vexing Devil , pay 1R to smack them for 5 vs paying 5 for 5damage. Cancel replace with Dissipate if you choose to run a high drop counter. Reason for Reanimator decks and things they can just re-dig from their graveyards. Hope some of that helps you out.

Thanks for the help. I just tried it out with those cards you suggested. Gives me a lot more options and seems to run a lot better, with Brimstone Volley peace

ran a similar deck without the hydras I used Guttersnipe and Hypersonic Dragon , I had too many options and my opponent just couldn't cope

Thanks grizzell for the advice. I'll see about getting Hypersonic Dragon . It looks like it is a fairly cheap card. How many would you say of each?

You should definitely switch Cancel for Dissipate , as Spinal suggested, if you can. It's better in nearly every sense.

Also, you need to try to get your card count to 60, no more. It will significantly increase your consistency.

Fleetfiend does the majority of players at FNM stay at 60? The reason why I ask, because I have seen people with a ridiculous amount of cards in their library, I didn't think a few more would hurt it. Would adding land not help it?

Yeah, the vast majority of decks competitive decks are 60-cards.

Also, your mana base is a bit off. You have more green than you need, and less red/blue.

Actually, I'm not even sure why you have green in there. It doesn't benefit the theme of the deck much; it stretches it from control/burn to control/burn with a bit of aggro.

Hypersonic Dragon wouldn't really benefit you, because as is, you don't have any sorceries.

If I were to suggest some removals, I would say Explosive Impact for sure, and maybe Index (not the most helpful option) or Thunderbolt (maybe keep it as a sideboard card).

Fleetfiend I have green in there to benefit the Nightshade Peddler and Izzet Staticaster combo. It allows me to kill any creature no matter what their power or defense is. The only creatures this doesn't work with is creatures with hexproof or if they kill one of my combo creatures. Which is why I was thinking of adding in Mask of Avacyn So I can protect my defense combo creatures. But I didn't because I was unsure if it was really worth it.

Ah, yes, forgot about that combo.

So yeah, this is definitely an interesting deck. Get it down to 60, make a few optimizations, and it will be cool. 8)

Mirrorweave on the sideboard for boardwipes with the Peddler/Staticaster combo? Also works pretty well with Primordial Hydra to make everything else 0/0 on resolve.

Also, is there a reason you don't have Polyraptor in here? Seems like a great addition. Ranging Raptors and Ripjaw Raptor also give you options.

I doubt it would be reliable or worth it in the mainboard, but a possible sideboard addition for longer games or hexproof/indestructible enemies would be Silverclad Ferocidons.

KongMing Thanks for your input. I just recently got back into Magic and came back on here for ideas. My local card shop hosts modern matches. I really liked this deck that I built back in 2013 and wanted to still use it with the same ideal mechanic. So to answer your question, that is why the cards you mentioned have not been used yet. I have just today moved over this deck from standard to modern. I appreciate your input and will look into updating this deck to be decent for modern play. Thanks again for the help.

Nice! You're welcome! Yeah, Polyraptor is expensive CMC-wise, but it seems worth to include maybe one in the mainboard and another in the side if you're playing against creature-heavy decks

Yes, I just saw how expensive it is for Polyraptor. Maybe I can find someone who has it and do some trading, but I am liking that card the more I look and read it.
