As with all of my decks: I love me some flavor value, Im not looking for a turn 1 win condition, Im looking to be competitive enough to put up a fight, and my main goal is that everyone's enjoying themselves.
Dont actually know if this deck is strictly Voltron but it does have some elements to it. Playstyle largely centers around token gen with a splash of equipment; the cornerstone cards being Sigarda's Aid, Kemba, Kha Regent, and Anointed Procession.
Anyway, Onto the Creatures
The battlefield is where kittens become lions.
Turn one has the option to drop Sacred Cat, but I would pass over it in favor of Sigarda's Aid, paving the way for this deck's strategy in regards to flash-casting. The problem I've found with Sigarda's Aid is that after you get the first one the rest are just taking up space in the deck, hence why I haven't stacked 4 of them.
If it's not possible to get it on the field, definitely try at the earliest opportunity, but don't fret if you can't. Equipment is a supporting function of the deck, not it's crux; same in regards to token gen. Focusing on either token gen or equipment is a decision left to the player; when the two work together it's a powerhouse, but the purpose of this deck is flexible strategy.
On turn two Adorned Pouncer drops for early-game board control, or Metallic Mimic gets poised to buff. On turn three the major players hit the field: 1) Pride Sovereign, cat lord of token gen and self-buff, 2) Brimaz, King of Oreskos, aggro warleader of token gen, 3), and 3) our girl Kemba, Kha Regent, leader of the pride...and token generator of big cats. (I'll get into her synergies below).
Turn four would potentially see Ajani, Adversary of Tyrants, which at worst would shift your opponent's focus a little while buffing up to two creatures. Turn five sees Regal Caracal, our second cat lord that offers buffing, life replenishing, and you guessed it, even more token gen.
Synergies
Deck synergies include the following:
1) We absolutely want Sacred Cat and Adorned Pouncer to get ganked. Once Anointed Procession hits the field and we take advantage of their embalm abilities we're going to get double value, or even triple if Pride Sovereign is on the field and just got +2/+2 if not more.
2) Anointed Procession also doubles Bloodforged Battle-Axe, which makes tokens of itself every time the equipped creature deals damage to a player. Coupled with Sigarda's Aid, we now can instantly equip two Bloodforged Battle-Axes to any of our creatures at zero cost. Adorned Pouncer tokens and Kemba should get first priority with Battle-Axe.
3) Equip our main girl Kemba with a single Swiftfoot Boots and watch her remain on the board, churning out 2/2 cat soldiers every turn, mainly only dying to sacrifice and board wipe (unless the artifact itself is dealt with, but even then you're forcing your opponent to use their resources.) With Anointed Procession we get a minimum of 2 cats each turn, but how about equipping those two Bloodforged Battle-Axes to her that we mentioned above? What's this, six 2/2 cat tokens at once? Yes please.
4) Helm of the Host is basically a finisher when coupled with Sigarda's Aid, a locked-down Kemba, and Anointed Procession. On the turn after it hits the field the legendary Kemba, assuming she's been hexproofed, drops four cats and a non-legendary token of herself, keeping with the legendary rule, which then makes a copy of THAT token. And with all of those Battle-Axes we've been making it shouldn't be difficult to equip any of them. Sadly, no more cats will spawn with the Kemba tokens, as they weren't under our control at the start of the upkeep. But still, that's some serious value. Use Enlightened Tutor accordingly if needed.
5) Prowler's Helm helps spawn the Battle-Axes, and Infiltration Lens is there to help add the combo cards to your hand, both artifacts operating on opposite ends of the spectrum from each other. Upon playtesting it was discovered that a little more control was needed in order to put up a better fight, hence their addition.
And That's It!
As you can see I've got an extensive Maybeboard. I've added a lot more control cards as compared to my first iteration and have cut back on the number of creatures overall. Any and all help and constructive criticism is appreciated, thanks for looking!
