Archaic: A format where the player assembles a 60 card deck that at one point would have been Standard legal from 8th edition onwards. The soul purpose of this format is to give players an alternative format that is interactive with today's Standard format without the financial problems of rotation as well as setting a format that old and new players can stand on equal ground against. Unlike the Modern format, the restriction of any past Standard deck allows the meta to be highly varied, and old and new strategies can be utilized that wouldn't normally be able to exist in Modern. The Archaic ban-list is the same as the Modern Ban-List. (That means you may not run Skullclamp in your deck as well as any other ban-listed card.)

This deck is comprised of cards printed from the following sets: Time Spiral, Planar Chaos, Future Sight, Tenth Edition, Lorwyn, Morningtide, Shadowmoor, and Eveningtide. Any cards not originally printed in any of those sets can not be used in this deck.

The Deck:

Rugged Prairie works as a second set of Graven Cairns for black power cards such as Divinity of Pride and Unmake which helps in filtering basic Mountains.

Bitterblossom and Bad Moon creates a painful and consistent agro plan. Furthermore Grave Pact help creates a deadly defense.

Evershrike and Spirit Loop creates an uncounterable 4/4 flash, flying, lifelink, creature for four mana that can be cast from the graveyard since Spirit Loop will always return back to hand. Evershrike can be tossed into the graveyard early through Lightning Axe or Smallpox.
