Wow! First of all, happy new year for the whole team! I came across this post on reddit a while back, bookmarked it for later use. After we played some really fun commander games with planechase on the first day of the new year, we discussed on implementing this in the near future.

We are huge fans of EDH and specially more fans of variant gameplay modes. And this one (as also big rpg players) looks to be perfect for us.

I have a couple of questions. I viewed the youtube link with the guide and read the "quick-rules", but some things are not clear enough for me, just to start:

This is the set-up as i understand it:

a) Each player has their usual initial set-up for their board (setting the commander in the CZ, shuffling, etc).

b) One player (i presume that it's the one winning the roll) shuffles bounty and quests and reveals 5 common quests, shuffling the rest again.

Now Question time!! :

c) This is the step i'm not getting. From this point on, are we supposed to play this like a "normal" EDH game? As in, we can attack other players for example?

d) When are bounties revealed? I know quests are revealed right after one is complete (so as i understand, we always need to have a board of 5 active quests), but i'm not sure on the bounty section.

I may have more questions as i read, print and view everything with more detail. But again, thank you all for putting this awesome thing together!!

I'm replying my own comment, also for anyone who may come into this with the same doubt. I now understand, after re-reading everything, that you gain one bounty once you complete a quest. And per rules you cannot have more than one active bounty of a given type. If a bounty of a subtype that is already owned is drawn, it is inmediately discarded.

Hey spideyfk,

happy new year!

Sorry, pretty busy recently with work.

You're right. Bounties are drawn by completing quests and yes, each game of Commander Adventures starts out as a normal game of commander with 5 common quests in the quest log zone. Wether you choose to play aggressively or not is up to you, Adventures will benefit players who play more politically tho since it provides more situations that require player interaction and cooperation!

As soon as the first players start to complete objectives around turn 2-4 the fun part begins: Epic Quests, Planechasing and much more!

Each Adventure is thereof unique since there are countless combinations of quests, bounties and planes your playgroup can encounter :)

Hope you and your Buddies have a good time playing CA!

If you have any questions let me know! (Checking Twitter more often than T/O)

Regards Sebastian

Thanks CommanderAdventures !! I've printed everything out at work (albeit in black and white) and we are hoping to test it out this weekend.

If it clicks within the group (we all know it will though), we'll see to get it printed out in color. Looking forward to more content. Thanks again for all the hard work and more thanks for sharing it! =)

I think i found a small mistake in one card:

Card: D&D Expansion, 1/25, Encounter Noonwraith

Issue: The reward states "[...] create two 1/1 white Spirit tokens with flying." This does not define a card type, thus the created tokens aren't creatures. The intention behind it is clear, but official cards state that they create 'p/t [creature types] creature tokens', like Aquatic Incursion .

luziferius You're correct. A typo we must have missed! A hotfix will go up soon!

Hi there just a question that came up today, do creatures created with the encounter abilities attack normally or not?

March 5, 2019 4:45 p.m.

Hi Punisheris,

no they usually don't attack if it doesn't say so on the card.

The only Encounter that has attacking creatures at this moment is the Sliver Queen.

Hey! So I just have a quick question for Y'all! I 100% want to print these out, where should I go to print these? Because I don't think that my local Staples will have blank MTG cards to print these cards on! Thanks for your time!

March 8, 2019 2:02 a.m.

Hey Zerraphon

They don't print these on single cards but on A4 card stock paper (300gsm or heavier). You should use the Print Sheets not the single cards for this!

Then they can use their big cut-blades to separate these. :)

That's at least how my print shop did it.

What is this?

March 17, 2019 9:26 p.m.

Nasser_inside1 It's a bunch casual variants for Commander. ;)

March 18, 2019 7:18 a.m. Edited.

So, I use the abilities they have, wow. This is better than I excpected, so these are custom right

March 18, 2019 7:43 a.m.

And what’s the picture of the back? Because I don’t want a blank back.

Our team created all cards you see here. We used lots of WotC assets of course to make it immersive.

Check Download & Printing Tab for Instructions. Youll find Card Backs for each Card Type there too!

Hi, I have one thing unclear about Conspiracy. How do Agitators work? What if Agitator (or anyone else than Usurpator or his ally) kills the active ruler (e.g. Brago). Ruler is dead, Usurpators can't become rulers anymore. Does agitator win, or should he kill Usurpators? And one more thing. If all Rulers are dead and there are two or more Agitators, do they all win?

April 9, 2019 7:30 a.m.

Hey qchap!

Agitators all win when there is no ruler left.

We differ between "defeat role X" and "deal killing blow to role X". Deafeat = You just need to survive the death of the mentioned role. Killing Blow = You need to be the one that causes the loss of the mentioned role.

See Quick Rules #3 :)

Thank you!

Hey there, love the format idea and how far it's come!

If you'd like, I can make you a coded CSS page for your deck. Since you're featuring it so much, making it look unique would definitely make people who are interested stay!

If you'd like to see some examples, check out my Marchesa Deck, A Yeva deck I coded, or even just my profile!

Hey! Just wanted to drop a serious thank-you to Commander Adventures for being the first thing to make me think “huh... I could do this kinda thing.”

At this point, at least partially thanks to this sweet alternate gameplay mode, I have designed a board game and now a new commander format of my own (New Format: Unlikely Alliances)!

Seriously, thanks a pile to whomever thought of this!!

I want to drop a reminder to you: With WAR, WotC changed the Proliferate ruling from "of a kind already there" to "of each kind already there". There are some cards in your set that need an updated reminder text.

April 28, 2019 5:15 a.m.

How do you make your own custom cards like this? I want to make my own format with cards like these but can't find the place to make them
