Hello!

Firstly, I love this kind of fan games like this!

I have a question, in cases like in "game of thrones" occurence ou the "Sliver Queen" ability to "during your next declare attackers step create a token attacking you". I didnt understand, before you attack, you have to defend against the tokens, creating a new "declare defenders step"?

Thanks!

Hey TheHeadlessWaltz,

thanks!

These cards don't create new phases but use your attacking step and you'll have to use your own turn's declare blocker step to defend yourself.

It happens simultaneously with you attacking players/encounters and them declaring blockers.

Same case with the "Eye of the Warstorm" plane.

For reference check this card: Party Crasher

Hi,

first of all I want to say thank you guys. Me and my playgroup played the main game a few times now and it is always fun. I got one question on the DnD expansion. How does the dungeons work, cause it says for example at Okina Temple to complete the dungeon I have to defeat Iwamori, but how do I know when Iwamori is defeated cause I dont know how many life he has and there is no card of him in the print sheets.

Thanks and keep up the great work

Hey Poobear0402,

thanks for playing.

Iwamori is a green 5/5 Human Monk creature with hexproof and gets one of the 2 random buffs.

Your creatures need to destroy him to complete the dungeon. This is done by you choosing up to three creatures in a order who combat him.

Combat is similar to fight, but with keywords like deathtouch, double strike etc. applying!

I recommend adding the latest expansions to fully reap the game. The main game had many flaws we lifted with the expansions. (More depth, more incentives to solve quests and more flavor)

Hope this helps, regards

Sebastian

I have a few questions regarding rules that don't seem to be explicitly stated:

  1. On the dungeon cards, it says, "..you may choose up to three creatures you control and choose the order for them." It says MAY, which to me means optional. If it was optional, everyone would just attack the token and not roll to buff it up. So I assume this is a mistake and you are required to choose your creatures in a specific order to fight the token like a boss. Is that correct? If so, I would word it like this: "At the beginning of combat on your turn, choose up to three creatures you control and choose an order for them. Once you chosen an order, roll a twenty-sided die:"

  2. The Game of Thrones card says you become a monarch. Does this effect tie directly into Conspiracy?

  3. For the Photoshop template, I don't see any of the required fonts. It also says to change the type engine from Middle Eastern to East Asian (which I did). For anyone who can't find it, it's under Edit, Preferences, Type. I use CS6 by the way :)

Thanks!

Sorry forget the 3rd question on my previous comment! I didn't see that the fonts are named on the template!

I have actually compiled all the required fonts for Adobe Photoshop so you don't have to go looking: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1ggqEZ9YFljAGkUvk1rTEzrsKCHdn1RN9/view?usp=sharing

Hey Deanmon,

let me try to help you with the questions :)

Yes, sending creatures into a dungeon is intended to be optional. Only when a player wants to send creatures into the dungeon AND ONLY THEN he has to roll the die for the buff as its stated in the bracketed rules text.

The Game of Thrones card says you become a monarch. Does this effect tie directly into Conspiracy?

Yes its the conspiracy monarch mechanic. We refer to it on multiple cards, see Starter Edition (We have a full cycle of quests that trigger the monarch subgame).

For the Photoshop template, I don't see any of the required fonts. It also says to change the type engine from Middle Eastern to East Asian (which I did). For anyone who can't find it, it's under Edit, Preferences, Type. I use CS6 by the way :)

The Template refers in each text box to the used font.

Hope that helps.

Okay thanks. So basically the dungeon is completely optional to explore. So if it remains on the quest board and nobody explores it, it just sits there and does nothing until someone does?

I made Progenitus an archenemy. https://imgur.com/kCYj6Ig for the bounty and https://imgur.com/9l2agI3 for the archenemy card.

Jup. To my experience most playgroups deal with dungeons very quickly so they don't last that long :)

Are the print files set up so that you can print them double sided and everything lines up correctly?

August 18, 2019 5:21 a.m.

@oa262

Yes. There is a separate Cardback-File for every Front that aligns perfectly.

I can't gurantee for the accuracy of your printer though. ;)

CommanderAdventures, I see that there are recent comments here from you, but no estimated dates on "The Bard's Song" or the point system. I was thinking of helping out via Patreon, but there is no activity over there to inspire me that things are moving along well.

So, I guess, I'm just looking for information as to what is going on with stuff and if patreon is the best way to help out or if there is another avenue that is more conducive to helping?

Also, would it be okay if I posted links on the MSE forums for them to make an MSE template for Adventures?

Hey harrowed777,

as of now we are only 2-3 people working on and off on Adventures.

You got to know that we are doing this in our off-time. :) That said we all were really busy recently with university, work and start-ups.

We have a streamlined version of our Planechase comming up that is aimed to be a standalone-Planechase edition that uses planes and phenomenons from ignition and also features some brand new planes too. That way players can experience many Adventure-Elements without diving too deep into the quest system.

For "The Bard's Song" we ran into some troubles:

  • There aren't that many Halloween flavoured Magic Cards and artworks licensed by WotC we could use for this fan project. We might get some more stuff with the upcomming set Throne of Eldraine fingers crossed
  • We experimented with many different "board-game-style" ways to play a players-versus-environment type of game with magic cards (e.g. having a randomly generated play-map that consists of different tiles, traps and events), but our approaches have been very complex and might confuse some players. Our goal right now is to deriviate the most fun parts of our initial concept and transfer it into a more simple and fun experience for players.
  • "The Bard's Song" is more complex and challenging to design than the stuff we released up to now combined and requires lots of testing and fine tuning. Therefore I can't tell when we are going to release it. (Imagine designing a Horde-deck that adapts to the power-level of the playgroup)

The Point System is lead by its inventor Luan Pham, but he seems really busy too with organizing tournaments. I will see if we could pick up and continue the point system project soon.

About MSE: As long as its accessible for free for anyone you can share it. :)

If you have any other questions let me know!

Regards Sebastian

Hey CommanderAdventures. I was just wanting to ask before I sat through quite a while of typing each of these into a text document. Has anyone spent the time required to input each of these cards into a XML document to be used in programs like Cockatrice? I currently don't have a physical group that I play with but would love to try this out online. I definitely think this is a great idea though and my old group loved trying new variations, our favorite so far being an expanded kingdoms variant that we largely made the roles ourselves.

Thanks a ton for making this a thing

Hey collins957,

one of our Members started creating a CA version in TTS but it seems he stopped working on it.

I do not know much about these online simulators but I think you can use the JPEG Files from the "single cards" download, or am I wrong?

First of all, thank you all for this variant. I want to ask some questions.

Reward effects and abandon effects are going to the stack, so I assume they are triggered abilities. Can they be countered by Stifle or Disallow ? If they can be countered, how to deal with the progress counters and the card? (put to the abandon piles and draw a new one?)

October 6, 2019 midnight

Deanmon says... #21

Progress counters cannot be interacted with like other counters (such as using proliferate effects). I doubt Sebastian had intended players to be able to counter any effects of these cards. I don't know for absolute certainty but it would kind of break the CA system if that were the case.

October 12, 2019 1:49 p.m.

Hey @alu4,

Deanmon is correct. CA counters, abilities and triggers can't be targeted. But you can theoratically react to them without targeting them. (Like saccing a creature in response)

Hey, love the project! I was just wondering if you'd be able to upload the template in .xcf format, as well as the pre-existing .psd. I don't have the money for Photoshop nor do I use it often enough to warrant buying it, so I use GIMP instead. GIMP can import .psd files, but the trouble is that it makes most of everything uneditable when it does that, most notably text, which just gets in the way of trying to make custom cards.

Another question: The quest The Beast Within states "...If you control a creature with power 4 times its base power or greater...". How does this interact with creatures with base power 0, which have had +1/+1 counters on them
