@chrishuffman95 tell that to Invisible_Stalker.

I wouldn't add more redcaps though, but I would remove unlike.

Add Spike Feeder for the infinite life combo. Forgot it.

AUTO CORRECT KEEPS TURNING UNLIFE TO UNLIKE.

Why do they use it on tappedout anyways? So many cards have names that use words that aren't in the dictionary.

FangedRamen: I said add 2 more Murderous Redcap s. And as I said earlier, this new block focuses on bringing back enchantments. And if you have the room, like my deck build had, run it cause it's not too many mechanics and it's a cheap combo that will make sure you won't lose the game until you can find the win combo...I don't see how that's a bad thing.

Also, how does Scavenging Ooze fit into this deck? It's my understanding that the decks sacs the creatures with persist. Which means they come back...which means there isn't anything in the graveyard to exile with the ooze.

The bottom line is that my deck build for this idea is a lot different than how you and chocolate101 play...my whole play style I'd different than how you two play. And if you take what I say and mesh it with your playstyles, it won't make sense. Personally, I prefer, and know a lot of other people that prefer, my playstyle. It is very well tested and stays the same game to game. That's why you see more decks that don't run singles, and run copies of almost every card. And at high numbers. This isn't a debate of which cards should be in the deck, it's a debate of playstyle.

To Invisible_Stalker: What is with all the one-ofs?

They're pod triggers, all on a body effects that you can use situationally. Some, like Reveillark and Orzhov Pontiff are even made to be put into the grave. That's what helps the ooze.

As for the play style part, we're talking build, not play style. The common pro modern build of Melira has many one ofs because it uses pod, Chord of Calling , and others to get "On a body" affects into play, many being situational, therefore there are one-ofs. The low numbers used in the typical Mpod build for combo pieces is because they can be tutored in many ways and brought back from the grave in a few, and aren't the 100% focus of the deck, so they can be consistent without also using up deckspace. (Also, about being able to cast chord and pod, that's what all the ramp is for.)

Pod is a very weird and complicated deck. If this was something simple, like a RDW build, I would be all out for 4 ofs of as many cards as possible (excluding legendaries and cards that don't work in numbers of course,) but Pod can trigger its combos without wasting deckspace on them. There are actually many other combos within all those singletons than just the Melira ones. Fact is, most pros play it with only 1 of each main combo piece, but I encourage 2 because of Path to Exile and its friends.

Spike Feeder is a combo with Mikaeus and Archangel of Thune for infinite life.

Pod is quite peculiar actually.

Invisible_Stalker: If you still don't get what I said in my previous comment, just read a full on pro guide to the modern pod strategy on WOTCMTG, channel fireball, or SCG website.

Kitchen Finks is only a 2-4 of usually because the deck needs time to win, as it is midrangey.

FangedRamen is usually right, except when he said Chained to the Rocks was $20 when it was $1.50

I didn't realize that the point of the deck is to build sac a creature so you can get a creature with a higher mana cost. That explains the singles. So it pretty much has to be inconsistent. I don't like this type of deck lol. You should run 4 Murderous Redcap s, though.

Yeah Chained to the Rocks most definitely no 20 dollars lol. Nobody would buy it lol...well..I shouldn't say that.

Oh my! These comments took me awhile to get through Haha, an interesting debate though. I currently run POD in modern and I find that the problem with Phyrexian Unlife is that if you are at the 0 life mark and it gets destroyed, you lose, at that point what you can use to bring it back doesn't matter. I also laughed, in a good way, at suggestions towards Noble Hierarch because you want to keep this slightly budget and they are crazy expensive. An alternative could be Elvish Mystic although they pale in comparison.

In the different builds I have seen, there have been some people who run Phyrexian Metamorph as a 1 of to copy opposing threats or copy Orzhov Pontiff for multiple -1/-1s.

Also, an interesting combo I have seen, since you already have Sun Titan is with Blasting Station and Sun Titan being out you bring in Banisher Priest to exile Titan and then sac and bring him back to bring back banisher and keep the loop up Haha. Its not something you see at GP's but it is interesting.

Enjoy your pod! Playing it takes practice but it can be so much fun when it all comes together!

@EKGwins: That combo doesn't actually work with Banisher Priest , as he specifies only a creature your opponent controls. It will however, work fine with Fiend Hunter . Just FYI.

EKGwins says... #18

kmcree oh! You are right. That's my bad I should have done more research, I've never played the combo personally and I was like, I know there's a card for that but I'm pretty sure its the same as Banisher Priest . Thanks for that!

No worries! I figured it was something like that. Just figured I should mention it in case you want to use the combo yourself. Haha

I would take out a seer, both unlifes, a wall of roots, and a finks for 3 lands, a Chord of Calling , and a Phyrexian Metamorph . Metamorph is least important if you want to keep an unlife though.
