How about just plain Jeskai burn?

I can't access the deck you linked. Is it private?

I'm interested in this deck. I'm running McLarens list from PT with some adjustments to make it more midrangey, and I think the large amounts of burn spells could be taken out for other things.

The only questions I have about your deck are:

1) Isn't your land base really painful? I'm only running 6 in my deck and I am constantly finding myself pinging for over 6 life during an average game. Im assuming you are using Seeker of the Way to counteract this because I initially thought the same thing, but he would either never come up or get removed when he did and I would be stuck at a low life total for most of the game.

2) Has 23 land been working for you? I think 24-25 is the perfect number for this list. Also scry lands have helped me smooth out draws so much.

3) Have you considered running 2 Dig Through Time in the mainboard for some late game gas?

Sorry for all the questions but I really want to try out your list! +1

Hey Marrceous! Thanks for your interest. =) Been tuning this list for quite some time now and I'm pretty happy with where it sits currently (although I live outside the states so I haven't exactly been to any competitive events).

Your questions are all ones I've had to think about seriously in the course of development, so hopefully I can clearly convey my thoughts:

    1) Yes, the pain-lands hurt a lot over the course of a game, often between 5-8 damage. However, my opinion is that the match-ups in which this is an issue tend to be the match-ups against which you really can't afford to play a tapped land on turn 3 and thus miss an on-curve threat. Seeker of the Way helps a lot with this, but what helps more is liberal use of the third mode of Jeskai Charm . The inclusion of Brimaz, King of Oreskos alongside Goblin Rabblemaster in this deck makes it really trivial to set up massive lifelink attacks/blocks (frequently for 10+ health current record: 31 :D). That's not something any deck not running counter spells can deal with at instant speed. I played a game against BW Lifegain just the other day in which a hand of 4x Jeskai Charm (what are the odds?) and a Brimaz on board won me the game against a larger board state and a life difference of 30+ points in their favour. It's hard to find a better out.
    2) Actually, until recently the deck was running at 22 lands, believe it or not. I finally decided that I was losing more games to not getting a third land than to flooding on land, so added the 23rd. I find 24-25 to be unnecessary when the deck can quite happily win with only three lands on the board for the entire game.
    3) Dig Through Time was one of my favourite cards from the Khans set, and was main-board in the first few iterations. Draw cards, however, go directly against the tempo game plan (check-out the article I linked at the start of the description), meaning that most often I simply preferred to have any card in my deck with text on it. The only time I was happy to draw it was turn 6+, by which point I've typically won already. The only decks against which that is not the case are, conveniently, the ones that fill our graveyard using discard/kill spells. Hence, the sideboard inclusion against disruption game plans. This is a much better main-board inclusion when the other half of your deck consists of instants (burn spells) that immediately enable delve.

Best of luck, and let us know if you have any success with it. :D I'll keep posting updates as the meta changes and I continue testing.

Have you thought of Hushwing Gryff for the SB? I've found it helps a lot in the Mono-Green Devotion and Junk matchups, shutting down Genesis Hydra , Hornet Queen and Siege Rhino .

Never mind, just looked at the Hydra, and it's on being cast. It's still good against Hornet Queen and Siege Rhino though. Would it stop the Hydra's +1/+1 counters though?

It doesn't stop the counters, no. If it could then hydras would die upon entering the battlefield anyway.

It's in my maybeboard at the moment. Still testing with it, but I agree that it seems like the best answer to a number of green-deck threats, including Siege Rhino , Hornet Queen , Nylea's Disciple and Doomwake Giant .

Hydras wouldn't die upon entering the board. The reason the Hushwing Gryff doesn't cancel Genesis Hydra is 1) because it's on the cast, not upon entering, as stated, and 2) because Gryff specifically says "does not cause abilities to trigger." The placing of counters on hydras is a static ability of their state in the game, not a triggered ability. If nothing goes on the stack, there's nothing for the Gryff to prevent.

This deck looks really interesting, though I am INCREDIBLY surprised that you're saying you cut Jeskai Ascendancy . It seems to me that it is the perfect card for you. I know you have said Jeskai Charm 's third mode is pretty much a game winner, but I feel like Jeskai Ascendancy could get you that win a turn sooner by doubling the boost on the charm's cast. Personally, I think that Purphoros, God of the Forge and Chandra, Pyromaster , while great cards with a quite a bit of potential burn, just don't fit in with this deck's feel. As you said, wanting to win mostly by turn 6 even with just 3 mana, those cards require more than 3 mana, and take away from another active threat you could play, such as another Mantis Rider .

Jeskai is my favorite color scheme, and I've been playing it mostly as control until the recent Khans release. I now have two iterations - one a creature based rush, and one a pure burn. I truly think that Jeskai functions better as an aggro rush than a "tempo" progress. There's no reason you shouldn't be able to win on turn 4-5 pretty consistently with this set up. I would -1 Purphoros, -2 Chandra, -1 Hour of Need , -1 Harness by Force , and maybe by removing those potentially higher cost cards, you could even remove one land again - and then add +2 Lightning Strike OR Searing Blood and +2/3 Jeskai Ascendancy and for some reason I feel like Hammer of Purphoros ? I think the haste is really good for this deck and I feel like it could do a lot for you. If not the hammer, then Monastery Swiftspear . Again, this is just my take on Jeskai - I think it is much stronger as aggro as can be.
