I like the deck, but i'm not sure if mardu scout is a great idea. love break through the line, want to put it in my own Burn deck. and maybe collateral damage.

He helps trigger denizen and can also pump rabble and can be a 3 power haste swinger turn 2

Also scout can be a lightning strike that comes back to your hand.

I like this deck... It seems to be a lot of fun and it will make some people mad. But I think you should cut the fetches because there is no point to spending your life on fetches when you could just draw into a mountain for when you would be drawing the fetch and have to spend the life. I also think that maybe cutting 1 Akroan Crusader and 1 Frenzied Goblin for 2 more Goblin Rabblemaster if you have the extra 2 because I know his price spiked from Khans, but he make more goblins for denizen to trigger and more boosts for rabble master and tokens to sacrifice for collateral damage.

First, as far as the fetches go: a

I run burn in modern and if you have the ability to thin your deck to be able to draw into more threats, you do.

As far as cutting to put more rabblemasters go:

I almost didn't want to run rabblemaster at all because of his mana cost. This deck can be extremely fast and VERY explosive! The problem is that it has zero to no late game. Rabblemaster gives the deck that little bit of late game hope. I really don't want to be playing him on turn 3 but more turn 5 to help stabilize against removal decks.

In conclusion: Thank you so much for the recommendations and even more for the view and interest. I own more than a playset of rabbles but I feel that 2 is more than enough considering the Hordeling outbursts as well. Also, I feel that the fetches will help this mono colored deck thin and win more consistently.

And I'm not running frenzied goblins??

January 20, 2015 8:09 p.m.

johnny115115 says... #7

Sorry I was thinking of my own red deck wins for the frenzied goblins and I understand why you don't wanna run the extra rabbles and with break through the line it makes sense so you give every thing on your board haste and hopefully a dashed Mardu Scout will already be on the board to boost rabble more and the outburst goblins will be given the extra advantage from the Break Through the Line. I will definitely make this deck once i get my boxes of fate reforged and while I open them I will set the cards i need for this deck aside and change my deck while i open the packs.

I honestly think if you're playing mono-red, then you should have more burn spells than creatures with the exceptions like Monastery Swiftspear, and I think with the heavy aggro that you are, that you need dip into white or black. White for protection, another cantrip and going Heroic or tokens or combination, with some prowess. Or black and go even deeper into aggro with the hellrider, Brutal Hordechief, make those swings make a real life difference.

Thanks a lot! I've been messing around with white thinking about heroic and prowess triggers. things like Gods Willing and Raise the Alarm. Both seem like great value. and can help the mid game and stabilize mid game a bit easier. The reason I've been sticking to mono red is for more consistency with mana base which makes the deck more efficient at "getting there" faster. Tomorrow is release day, so I will be testing to see if this deck will be fun or a flop. I'm not gonna invest too much time and not much money into it. My main standard deck (I Make Her Say....) is what i'll be using in any "real" tournament. This deck is more of a brew concept that'll be fun at FNM's! Thanks again for the suggestions!

A quick comment on fetches. http://magic.tcgplayer.com/db/print.asp?ID=3096

Never is it good to run fetches just for "thinning" math does not lie.

I went 3-2 and got 6th place at my fnm but since I didnt have the 4th Akroan Crusader, I subbed it for Hall of Triumph and it worked better than having a 4th crusader

I went 4-0 and got 3rd at my LGS. I think I'm going to sub out 2 Satyr Firedancer for the Circle of Flame in the board. My Abzhan matchup is terrible.

I didn't beat Abazan, but I beat 1 sultai Whip and got wrecked by one.

I run a red aggro deck as well. I do not run Collateral Damage, but I would like to. How did it do? was it ever stuck in your hand?

February 8, 2015 1:13 p.m.

Squisherton says... #17

it can be there a turn or 2 but eventually you can use it for the block/sac or swing damage and sac. it's pretty versatile.

Save yourself $80, put in 17 mountains. You have no cards that depend on you losing 1 life, and if you replace the fetches with Mountains, whenever you WOULD have drawn a fetch, you'll have a Mountain instead.

Also, maybe try Satyr Firedancer instead of the Mardu Scout. He combos great with burn spells. Speaking of burn spells, maybe Searing Blood?

As far as the Satyr Firedancer, I used to have him in my sideboard but I found that he was too mana intensive to cast then start burning. I found that Frenzied Goblin is doing a little better of a job. As far as the fetches go. There is a huge debate on wether or not fetches in a mono colored de k actually helps thinning at all. I am a supporter of the side that says it does. I mean, in a deck that runs mainly 1 & 2 drops, when you can take out 8 lands to help you draw gas, it really helps. And as far as Searing Blood goes, look at my Sideboard. I switch them out for a less effective burn spell if I see targets they're gonna hit and plenty of them. No reason for main if they are just gonna sit in your hand.

February 26, 2015 7:39 a.m.

What about the cow that deals damage = to devotion to red as maybe a 1x of as he's 4 cmc which is highly for your deck. But if you have those creatures and the enchantments he becomes a burn spell with a body.

Squisherton says... #21

I'm not a huge fan of him but I have been looking at Spite of Mogis. Don't know what I'll trade out for it though.

February 26, 2015 9:34 a.m.

That looks like it'll fit well with what you got. Also gives you some handy Scry

February 26, 2015 9:55 a.m.

MBiondi says... #23

Yeah, I saw the Searing Blood in your sideboard a bit after I posted, sorry. I dunno, it doesn't seem like the thinning is all that helpful. You should be winning in the first 5, maybe 6 turns, so why endanger your life total, and how many are you going to be drawing in the first place. And yeah, Satyr Firedancer is a little costly to get out, but damn does he work fast. Lightning bolt is great, Searing Blood becomes a boardwipe early on. But eh, he's not necessary. As for Spite of Mogis, how often do you convoke for Stoke the Flames? That might be a good switch.

February 26, 2015 10:29 a.m.

Squisherton says... #24

Honestly this deck has the potential to win turn 3 but usually wins turn 4-4.5. MBiondi, again, there's a debate on wether or not it actually does do anything as far as thinning goes. But as fast as this deck is I really don't care about my life total at all. At most the fetching will do 8 damage to me. Usually it only does 2-3 damage a game. All n all I'm gonna keep them in. Lol sorry. honestly, I can count on 1 hand how many times this deck has lost a game. I've gone to game 3 less than 5 times and only lost once. It's been working mainly due to the speed and versatility to finish.

February 26, 2015 11:34 a.m.

MBiondi says... #25

Well, if it works, it works! I guess if it's that fast it doesn't really matter at all. Also, at first I thought you didn't already have them. If you've already bought and built the deck then it makes no difference. Thoughts on Spite of Mogis. Also, if you wouldn't mind (since you seem to get Red a little better than I), could you take a look at this monored I'm building, and see if you can think of anything to better it while keeping it cheap?
