I agree. I play 2 control decks right now 50 Shades of Grey Merchant and Undefeated UW Control both of which would be SO happy to get matched against you. But if you Thoughtseize or Duress me, I'll get super sad, so, I'd run 4 Thoughtseize and sideboard some Duress . Have you considered Pack Rat ?

@Rasta_Viking29 and valendras I have almost all the cards, with the exception of 2 Desecration Demon and 2 Blood Crypt , which I'm hoping to get at FNM tonight. This deck already pays enough life, so I'd probably only be willing to run about 1 more Thoughtseize . I'll consider it, though. I do sideboard the full playset of Duress to help deal with control. Slaughter Games also helps a lot. I've definitely considered Ultimate Price , and if my meta turns out to be mostly mono-color decks I'll switch out the doom blades for them. Pack Rat is something I've thought about, I just don't like the discard part since I only have 4 card draw spells. I'll put some more thought into it. Thanks a lot for your input!

You can run Underworld Connections to draw cards (:

@athena95 I wasn't able to play at FNM because very few people were at the store due to the GP that was to happen the next day. They all went to a bigger game store that was farther away from home. I may take it to FNM this weekend and see how it does then.

I think Sire Of Insanity deserves at least a SB spot against all the control decks running around.

Thanks, Trublood, I'll definitely put some thought into running Sire. My main concern is that I also need a full hand of cards, but maybe not so much with Sire on the field, as he can just hand out a beatdown. We'll see!

Even if I find the list very sexy, I don't think it's competitive.
Regards to the current field, the list has a lot of weakness.
Based on the metagame, the list will have serious issues agains't Mono U and Mono B. Mono U has his master card, Master Waves, wich will only die agains't ultimate price and hero's downfall. Mono B has a lot of sustain, and you will barely be able to cast a good Rakdo's Return. He can easily control your Dragon and keep your Demon out.
Also Esper is a serious issue, you'll die game 1 due to the high number of anti crea. Deadbore and Hero's will shutdown any Jace, but he will still be able to do it's -2, and get some CA. Also you totally die agains't Blood Baron, because you skip Mortars.
The list is good to run over some aggro deck, like Selesnya or RDW. Also it's really an interesting play, like BRW, the deck is very punchy. But not that strong.

nestalim I'd have to disagree with you. Although things like Esper and Mono-Blue may have a slight advantage game 1, there is always game 2 and oh dare i say it.... GAME 3. With a good sideboard plan you can move the advantage to yourself by putting in Duress , Pithing Needle and of course the UNcounterable Slaughter Games and take out all those useless kill spells against Esper. Losing game 1 happens.

Thank you, notamardybum. You're exactly right, and have saved me some explaining. As for Mono U and Mono B, nestalim, I actually think I have a solid matchup against both. They are both creature-based decks which are hit hard by my removal. If they have a devotion of 1, the Mono U Master of Waves isn't exactly threatening. Even if I can't get their devotion down, Thoughtseize takes Master out of their hand, Anger of the Gods kills everything in Mono U except Thassa and Master, and Ultimate Price and Hero's Downfall can take out Master if he does hit. As for Gray Merchant of Asphodel , Slaughter Games comes down a turn earlier and absolutely shuts down the Mono B devotion deck, no questions asked.

why Mutavault ? it doesn't really do much for you.

Actually, SasukeUchiha, Mutavault is one of my secondary win-cons. They get through damage in the late game when I need it, and can block in emergencies.

TheFanatic yeah, but every game will not be a dream.
On a COMPETITIVE field, you wil have to do between 7-14 rounds, and due to the high representation of those three decks, which are currently, Tier 1, you will certainly never has this perfect hand wich one duress, one anger, one slaughter and 4 lands. Even if you do once, you won't be able do repeat it every time.
Yeah, every body with the exact hand can take every deck out. Still, Game 2 is harder than you can think, because you're not the one who side; Your deck just die agains't rapid hibrid wich is Mono U strongest weapon again midrange, and of course, you will have to deal with Jace and the Bident, wich will provide enough CA to send you in space.
And also, maybe Slaugher comes before Grey Merchant, fair, but Thoughtseize too.
And put needle and duress still won't be a much threat to Blood Baron.

Mizzium Mortars would be good in the SB against Blood Baron of Vizkopa if its a problem in your meta.

@Nobilior Blood Baron isn't all that present in my meta, and I already do have a few answers to it. Thoughtseize and Devour Flesh in the mainboard, as well as Lifebane Zombie in the sideboard. I'm definitely still considering Mizzium Mortars , though.
November 19, 2013 10:56 p.m.
I would split the Read the Bones and Underworld Connections 2 of each, or just go with 3-4 connections. The more I play that card, the more I like it for draw over bones. The scry is nice, but when you think about it, what are you actually getting. 1 additional card becuase the 2nd card is just an exchange for casting the bones. For this, you pay 3 mana, 2 life and are limited to sorcery speed. Connections can be used again and again or not at all, is only 1 mana and 1 life, plus you can use it at instant speed. Other than that, I like the deck. +1
November 24, 2013 9:50 p.m.
Nice deck! +1! Personally, just because I think this card is hilarious, I think you should toy around with Master of Cruelties just because it is hilarious. Though it kinda sucks in certain metas it is a bomb in my fnm, I've won quite a few with that dude. And definitely consider a few Mizzium Mortars in the side for the swarmier decks.
November 24, 2013 10:44 p.m.
Ah, marok, I see you too like Master of Cruelties.

I'm considering dropping 1 Dreadbore for a singleton Mizzium Mortars in the main deck. What do you guys think? I'm just worried because Mortars is a dead card against much of my local meta, which is heavy in Esper control.
November 24, 2013 11:24 p.m.
Keep the bore. Esper falls with out its planes walkers
November 24, 2013 11:25 p.m.
Esper kills you more with Aetherlin/Blood Baron than Elspeth..
Also Dreadbore on a Jace wich will do it's -2 is not that effective, so it's a good move I think.

You might have some trouble to decks like FakeIzzet in my opinion. Might need more non creature based disruptions.

Very similar to this deck I'm working on: Demonic Control/Midrange. I haven't put much work into it yet as I'm focused on other projects. I'd like to see how your deck turns out and preforms. Do you have the cards or do you still have to acquire them?
I'd cut the 2x Doom Blade and run a full playset of Thoughtseize . There is too many mono-black decks around tight now to mainboard Doom Blade in my opinion. Especially with all the other options for removal. I think Ultimate Price is better than the Blade as well.
