How do you feel about Grim Flayer over Satyr Wayfinder and replacing 1 Grisly Salvage with 1 Jarad's Orders?

I have contemplated Knight of the White Orchid. I was debating on whether or not I wanted it because that is A LOT of creatures with the double in the mana cost, but another one to consider again. Hero of Bladehold again was one I was considering, but the four mana for a creature seemed like a lot. However, for some reason I thought the tokens left the battlefield, so maybe worth considering a one of.

Satyr Wayfinder is there to get more things into the graveyard, however Grim Flayer could be one worth trying instead. The problem I have is it's not a knight and I may utilize more resources protecting it, wheres Satyr Wayfinder I don't care about. But a two mana powerhouse is definitely worth considering as well.

I don't like Jarad's Orders being that it is four mana. Granted it gaurentees a Haakon, Stromgald Scourgein the graveyard, but expensive for what it does.

It may take a while to playtest those but thanks for the suggestions skoobysnackz!

Looks good man, let me know how Grim Flayer works for you, keep it up!

Now this is a sick Haakon deck. Awesome work!

How about Student of Warfare as a one-drop?

seshiro_of_the_orochi - first off, love the name. Secondly thanks for the compliment! Lastly, I did have Student of Warfare in the original build. It was something that I could play turn one and just slowly build to be defense (or aggression) until the rest of the deck was ready to come out. Unfortunately, with the current build, it was taken out to make room to make the deck more consistent. I also decided to up the count of Silverblade Paladin, which can continuously give other creatures double strike, so the potential 4/4 double strike for eight mana (one to cast, seven to level up) became somewhat obsolete and clunky in the build.

Thanks for the suggestion though!

Love seeing other Haakon players, +1. I went with a Zombie Haakon tribal. I'd love to be able to face off against you!

Is there any kind of free way to do that online bigshocka? Thanks for the upvote and compliments of the deck!

There's cockatrice. Reddit has plenty of info about it. Unfortunately, I'm without a computer right now.

We'll fine a way haha. Although I'm pretty sure your deck will destroy mine.

I'm not so sure, white is strong against me. Side in some GY hate and path my Gravecrawler and I'd be in trouble haha. I'll definitely let you know when I get a computer!

Siiick deck, +1! I know this is old but I see you have Knight Exemplar giving the Soldier tokens from Hero of Bladehold indestructible when they actually don't get any buffs from Exemplar since they are just Soldier tokens and not Knights.

Any thoughts on running a few Hot Soup or Tireless Tracker in the SB?

Pheardemons says... #13

TupaCuba Thanks for the comment and the upvote. Actually, Knight Exemplar doesn't give the tokens indestructible either. It specifically says Other knight creatures indestructible. The tokens are just extra damage that will keep being pumped out with Hero of Bladehold who WILL have indestructible.

Not sure why I would include Hot Soup here. This is a midrange deck that has the possibility of continuously wiping the board with Haakon, Stromgald Scourge and Nameless Inversion so the unblockable aspect doesn't really matter. Unless you're talking about adding it onto an indestructible creature. I see some synergy there, but it probably won't get included.

Tireless Tracker is NOT something I had considered for this deck, however, that is a serious possibility. With Knight of the Reliquary it can definitely help me to draw. Thanks for the thought!

Lastly, doesn't matter how old the deck is, it's always nice to hear compliments. Thanks again man!

Pheardemons thanks for the reply, I run my Haakon deck pretty similarly after seeing your list but can't find room for Inquisition with the dredge stuff I run. Opinions on dredge in this deck? Is there a reason you don't run Stinkweed Imp or something like Darkblast?

I've been running Catacomb Sifter with good success. I'd also consider Duskwatch Recruiter  Flip and I think you may want to run Blood-Cursed Knight since you have so many Sanctities maybe run it over Bones.

Hot Soup works as a great mid game surprise to get in the final damage against Lingering Souls

TupaCuba - I did play some dredge cards in an earlier version of the deck when it also ran red for Faithless Looting to discard Haakon, Stromgald Scourge out of my hand. However, dredge is something that needs to be completely built around, not added in a deck (personal opinion). Often times I'm dredging many good things I need for a card that wasn't all that relevant. Life from the Loam was in here for a bit, but again, the dredging was just inconsistent being this deck isn't built around it completely.

Eventually, the build you see now is where I ended up. I have a lot of library manipulation in the form of Grim Flayer and Grisly Salvage to either put stuff in the graveyard that I WANT there, or make sure I can pick out the gold among the cards that'll help me in the situation. This version has been more consistent than the previous versions with dredge.

The creature suggestions you have are interesting, and something I'll definitely consider. Not sure if I have room, and they're not knights, but I'll see if they become worth running. Thanks man!

June 5, 2018 2:33 p.m.

Wakka6661 Thanks for the comment and glad you like the deck. She was considered, just not that strongly. What would you recommend to take out for her? How many do you think would work?

June 7, 2018 6:48 p.m.

Seshiro back once more. I'm glad to see your deck is still thriving. I made my own knight deck, mostly with dominaria cards. But i'm still looking for ways to include haakon. Maybe take a look at it? Legend of the knights: a history of benalia

Away from advertising, back to my suggestion: Have you considered Elenda, the Dusk Rose? The dream here would be to use nameless inversion to grow her to 3/3, then target her with inversion to get six vampire tokens. And then recast her next turn.

Pheardemons says... #19

seshiro_of_the_orochi - Welcome back my good sir. I'll definitely take a look at your deck, and if I have any comments I'll make it there.

Elenda is a very interesting inclusion. Also, I think you mean I would get three tokens. If her power is 3/3 I wouldn't get six (there's nothing in this deck that doubles). I like the thought of her. I'll keep her in mind.

June 11, 2018 11:30 a.m.

No, i actually meant six. Nameless Inversion gives +3/-3, so it puts your 3/3 elenda at 6/0, making her die and leave six dudes.

Great to have you look at my deck. I'll check out your comment right after posting this.

I will post my Haakon deck that I made 2 years ago tomorrow but you should have Crib Swap . Its awesome removal for a 1/1 token y I u give them and it exiles. Oh and its a changling same as nameless inversion. Mine also runs Buried Alive

May 13, 2020 11:19 p.m.

Pheardemons says... #23

fennikuso - Thanks for stopping by my good sir. Crib Swap is definitely an interesting card to consider! Three mana may be a bit much but the changeling absolutely makes it a worthwhile consider. Thank you for bringing that to my attention. Buried Alive is not modern legal so I will not be including that in this version.

May 13, 2020 11:42 p.m.

fennikuso says... #24

Actually Buried Alive is modern legal now.

May 14, 2020 10:02 a.m.

Pheardemons says... #25

fennikuso sorry man it still isn't legal. There has been no modern legal set that it has come in to date. Here is the link to Gatherer that confirms it.

Don't get me wrong, it would be an interesting fit. Just can't be played in modern as of now.
