Legacy Aggro Control Devotion Merfolk Mono-Blue Tribal

Sideboard

Plain and simple - tribal is really fun to play. This Merfolk deck has done very well for me. The concept is pretty straight forward -aggro and control. I have chosen not to use Aether Vial and am instead running 7 burn spells in the 1cmc spot for additional control/direct damage.

First, I have a slew of control and burn spells - Vapor Snag, Manna Leak, Pillar of Flame , and Lightning Bolt. Similarly, there are several control creatures, such as Kira, Great Glass-Spinner, and Spellskite, both of which are amazing creatures in their own right. Even Cavern of Souls contributes, making it impossible to counter any Merfolk as they enter the battlefield.

The bad-ass army of Merfolk consist of:Lord of Atlantis,Master of the Pearl Trident, Coralhelm Commander , Tidebinder Mage , Master of Waves and the deadlyTrue-Name Nemesis.

Each of these guys will get huge via pump from one another with Islandwalk and/or protection from players. Once these guys get going they are really hard to stop.

Not only is Master of Waves a Merfolk but it also produces a bunch of 2/1 elemental tokens which can be very helpful in a variety of scenarios.

Mutavault can add some additional Merfolk creatures into the mix when needed.

Overall, I am pleased with how this deck is holding up in Modern. I am always happy to hear your suggestions and/or ideas about this deck.
