don't foget about Brimstone Volley !!! Vexing Devil can trigger mobid... if you play it in turn 4 it will be 9 dmg right in your opponents face...Reckless Waif Flip can't do that... so if you need speed I think Vexing Devil is the best choice because he is much faster ;)

Thou art correct my comrade caster. The hellish devil makes haste at dealing my adversary much damage quickly. Even if thine opponent chooses to banish thine devil, 4 damage will ensue and put my adversary on a speedy sundial. Thy ability to cast magical tomes for wee amounts of mana power are key. To strike hard and with much haste is the entire point of this wizards' spell book. Also with thine opponents having much ability to clear the battlefield of my magical beasts, one with a direct ability will provide a better outcome and put thine opponent in thy flames of hell quickly

The Wizard of the Damned Talks in the ancient and dead of races long desecrated by the might of this powerful mage. For he controls the mighty powers of the fire and riders of hell to unlease upon his adversaries and listen to their screams of agony and the lamentations of their women!

Check out this one...very similar but I believe pillar is going side for me. My Boros Wins I think mine has more Meta answers and its won many FNMs and been tested in pro level events with more than 100 players.

I'm a little skeptical of the Shard Volley tome... aren't there some better options out there? Lava Spike ? or just a proper Shock or Incinerate ?
I may enjoy seeing Ball Lightning in this spellbook too... It would be fun to Fling it at one's adversary.

Nice deck I was planning a RDW for modern and it pretty much turn out like this. :3
Have you try out Hellspark Elemental ? Unearth is what really makes it good but Spark Elemental is cheaper but can't be reused. Personally I was planning to run both but im not sure if Hellspark Elemental is good enough to hold a slot in my deck.
@ CommanderFun Shard Volley in RDW is like a extra lightning bolt because your mountains don't matter later in the game at that point. Shock is too weak and Incinerate is outclassed. However outside of Modern RDW it sucks.

Hellspark Elemental is really better than Spark Elemental just for the fact you can bring him back later. For a 2 CMC slot, I chose the Keldon Marauders just because as long as he isn't countered, I am guaranteed at least 2 damage even if they don't get to swing. Other than that, a 3/3 beater for 1R is pretty good. As for Spark Elemental , I chose him just because the one mana cost. I would rather be able to drop a Spark Elemental and use a Lightning Bolt on T2 possibly netting a total of 10-12 damage at that point (dependent on board state of course)
@snowstormThanks for covering Shard Volley for me. Personally the Wizard feels like Searing Blaze has proved underwhelming several times and I'm taking considerations former powerful tomes to use. Suggestions welcome... The Wizard needs some Browbeat s

@snowstorm and Wizard of the Damned... thanks for educating me. after your explanation, I feel not so smart, because it seems obvious now the application. I went out and bought a playset last night.
I'm working on converting my old legacy burn deck into modern, but I'm unfamiliar with most of the cards since was on a hiatus from 1999 to 2012... yeah...
So again... thanks for edumacating me.

People are never gonna let a 4/3 stay and swing though. When your opponent is given the choice, they'll always pick whatever is worse for you. But, it's your deck, so I hope it works out for you. :)
