Funtime Drafts - Flameshadow Conjuring (Origins)

Maybeboard

First for-fun Origins draft session. Maybeboard contains entire pool of drafted cards.

I opened a Flameshadow Conjuring in pack #1 and quickly decided to try it out (even though it seems like it would be awful in limited). While I didn't get as many many ETB effects as I might have liked, things didn't end too badly. I really wish I could have grabbed at least one Evolving Wilds as three colors can be really cumbersome at times.

Anyway, the deck itself performed well enough; it was neither spectacular nor mediocre and managed to function well enough without Flameshadow Conjuring.

As for Flameshadow Conjuring itself, I can only say the same for it. Even after building a deck I went out of my way to design around that one card, it still didn't always perform that amazingly. There were times when I found myself desperate for a second Red source and others where taking a turn off to get it out just wasn't worth it. That said, once Flameshadow Conjuring is up and has everything it needs, it can run very smoothly and effectively take over games. Effectively triggering ETB effects twice, giving your creatures haste (and sort of vigilance for a turn), and letting you get safe attacks in all with one card means it's a pretty solid package.

Final record was 3-3-0.

Notable card observations:- Shaman of the Pack proved to be a real beating in this deck. I can only imagine how it fairs in a fully fleshed out Elf deck (in either limited or constructed).
