Intro

They say Galazeth has a flair for the dramatic and I immediately pictured him as the super over-the-top chuunibyou type, announcing his spells and attacks with wild names and much dramatization! I kind of ran with that theme throughout this primer so it’s a reference city down there, hope you catch a few of them! This deck is all about spell slinging fun and keeping the joy of a casual deck while still packing some pretty fast instant kill combos for those games where you need to hit the doom button quickly! Ran some IRL test games with this deck this week and will be updating it as I run more in the coming weeks! Hope you enjoy it!

Why would you want to play Galazeth Prismari as your commander?

-A lot of fun with treasure tokens and artifact synergy without being toxic!

-Big high damage X spells and cool combos to blast your opponent for their entire life total in one strike!

-Capable of wiping out all of your opponents on the same turn in multiplayer games

-A nice degree of flexibility in strategies to win

Key Cards and Synergies

This panel covers some important cards and how they interact with each other, providing some helpful information needed to run the deck at full efficiency!

Team Three Star! (Key Creatures) Show

-Rapacious Dragon seems pretty unassuming as an uncommon, but with Galazeth Prismari on field the two treasure tokens generated by Rapacious Dragon instantly become two free mana rocks to be used in casting your instants and sorceries, as you won’t have to sacrifice them due to Galazeth Prismari’s last ability. Even more importantly, if you get Thassa, Deep-Dwelling or Conjurer's Closet on field you can bounce Rapacious Dragon at each of your end steps to keep pumping out treasures!

-Academy Manufactor was a clear choice to add to the deck, as while it’s on field any treasure tokens you generate will instead create one each of a treasure, a food and a clue token, and the same will go for any clues you create! (There are no cards in this deck currently that make food tokens, but those would also be subject to the replacement effect). As each of those token types are artifacts, you are effectively tripling your mana rocks when Galazeth Prismari is on field.

-Storm-Kiln Artist is one of our more important pieces as you’ll see in the combos section, but he’s here to make treasure tokens as we cast and copy our instants and sorceries!

-Leyline Tyrant is our living battery, holding in red mana we decide to float in our mana pool for future turns and letting us charge up for a huge X spell if we keep him protected!

-Neheb, the Eternal, another combo piece that functions as a big mana generator, letting us strike twice in the same turn or really bring the house down with a big blast with some careful planning!

-Imperial Recruiter and Trophy Mage will share this spot since they share the same purpose: tutoring! Imperial Recruiter will be primarily used to grab Academy Manufactor or Storm-Kiln Artist to combo off, while Trophy Mage can also grab Academy Manufactor or can retrieve your Twinning Staff for additional spell copying, or even Inspiring Statuary to give your spells improvise!

Combos and Special Moves

This section covers some key combos and details the 2 infinite combos present in the deck that feature Fury Storm! Both infinite combos have a fairly low mana cost and can be pulled off early in the game for a fast decisive victory.

Power Rising! (Infinite Mana tech) Show

Our first infinite combo is Fury Storm + Storm-Kiln Artist , and it produces infinite treasure tokens which equals infinite mana for us! With Storm-Kiln Artist on field you’ll want to either cast a low cost instant or sorcery such as Secrets of the Key and then cast Fury Storm targeting that instant or sorcery. You will need to have cast Galazeth at least once so that you get the extra copy of Fury Storm, and you’ll have the copy target the original Fury Storm. This creates another copy of Fury Storm, which you’ll again target the original Fury Storm with and repeat this infinitely or as many times as desired. Whith each copying of Fury Storm, Storm-Kiln Artist’s magecraft ability will trigger and create a treasure token, so you can create infinite tokens! With Galazeth Prismari on field this means you can tap them immediately for mana of any color to cast your instants and sorceries without sacrificing them, allowing you to drop an infinitely huge blast on the table with one of your burning X spells!

Stardust Breaker! (Infinite Damage) Show

The second infinite combo using Fury Storm involves Ral, Storm Conduit. With Fury Storm + Ral, Storm Conduit , you need to have cast your commander (Galazeth of course) at least once to get the extra copy of Fury Storm and then similarly to the first combo you’ll have to cast an instant or sorcery then cast Fury Storm targeting that spell. Have the copy of Fury Storm target the original Fury Storm and target the original again every time you copy it. This creates infinite damage triggers from Ral, Storm Conduit as you are copying Fury Storm an infinite number of times, and you simply use this infinite damage to burn your opponents off the table one by one!

Double Sunday (Echo Cast Combo) Show

So you have all these big X spells, but you feel like you want to cast more than one per turn at max damage, right? Well fortunately you can! With Neheb, the Eternal, you can gain an amount of red mana equal to the life that ALL of your opponents have lost that turn when it comes to your second/post-combat mainphase! And with spells such as Cackle with Power or Jaya's Immolating Inferno that hit multiple opponents, you can create a massive amount of mana by damaging your opponents directly, then getting a corresponding amount of mana from Neheb, the Eternal in return! Even if you only have one opponent, this can still rack up some damage by casting a high value Banefire or other X spell in your first mainphase, then using the mana that’s generated from Neheb in your post-combat mainphase to hit them again for nearly the same amount of damage with another X spell! You can even try to damage them in the combat phase with your creatures to increase your mana gain, and if you have Leyline Tyrant on field you can store the red mana and save it for a future play like Goku charging the spirit bomb!

Meteoric Burst!!! (Commander Damage Kills, High Combat Damage plays) Show

This deck also features some additional kill options in the form of Hellkite Igniter, Inferno of the Star Mounts and Lunar Frenzy! Hellkite Igniter was another obvious inclusion due to the sheer amount of treasure tokens and other artifact tokens the deck is capable of generating, making the Hellkite’s activated ability a death sentence as you can activate it a few times and have a huge flying player-killing missile! Lunar Frenzy presents us with the commander damage route, as you can pour mana into this X spell to power up Galazeth for a lethal 21 damage or more (especially in conjunction with the infinite mana combo from the “Power Rising!” tab above, or you could cast Lunar Frenzy targeting another creature for high damage or combo potential, such as setting up a lot of damage to benefit from Neheb, the Eternal’s ability later in the turn.

Our third option in this category comes in the form of Inferno of the Star Mounts, as there are many ways to reach it’s 20 power threshold and shotgun a player for 20 damage and potential swing it in the same turn for a kill. We have the option to sacrifice our treasures to generate the required mana (as Galazeth’s artifact tap ability only allows for the casting of instants or sorceries), setup for a post-combat shot with Neheb, the Eternal, or any combination or methods to reach that critical 20!

Dramatic Finish! (X Spell Kill) Show

You have 7 ki bars and it’s time for the final blow, how do you close out the game? Using one of the infinite combos above can easily win you the game, but if you lose access to those or go a more traditional route, your main focus should be taking out your opponent with a high value X spell such as Crackle with Power if you’re facing multiple opponents or you can pour your resources into a Banefire/Electrodominance if you only have one opponent to worry about!

Crackle with Power is an excellent option as you’ll hit X targets at once for 5 times X, (so if you can get X to equal 5, you’ll pop everyone for 25 damage, X as 7 would be 35, etc). This can be challenging in other decks, but with all the mana generating options we have available in this deck it’s fairly easy to pour enough mana into these X spells to be lethal in one blast! And with our doubling spells and other double sources such as Pyromancer's Goggles it’s even easier to reach deadly amounts of power to close out the game.

Backup Plan Omega! (Alt Wincon)

Your opponent just pulled off an infinite life combo, or otherwise made killing them through damage extremely difficult, so what do you do now? Now that it’s come down to this, our emergency plan is to attack their deck directly! This is of course referring to milling them out, which we can accomplish with cards like Tasha's Hideous Laughter, Drown in Dreams and Fractured Sanity. The deck packs plenty of spell copying effects such as Teach by Example and Howl of the Horde so that you can make the most of your spells, and combining copy spells with mill spells allows you to potential mill out players very quickly (or in some rare cases instantly). This shouldn’t be regarded as the primary way to win a game unless you have all the pieces in hand, but it can get you out of a sticky situation if your opponent proves nearly impossible to kill through damage.

The Strixhaven Series, and a Strong Rivalry

This Galazeth deck is the first I made centered around the Strixhaven founding elder dragons, and is currently accompanied by my Velomachus Lorehold and Shadrix Silverquill decks! These three decks all function well and are fun to play with different playstyles, so if you enjoyed this deck I hope you’ll check out the others below!:

Velomachus, Air Raid Bomber *Primer*: A deck more balanced between competitive and casual, built for getting Velomachus Lorehold onto the field quickly and utilizing his ability to drop everything from removal spells to big boardwipes! As the name suggests, this deck’s playstyle is all about clearing the board and dealing heavy commander damage to your opponents, and a full primer will be coming soon!

Shadrix, Ambassador of Ultimatums *Primer*: A deck themed around politics, lifegain, and building an army! Shadrix Silverquill leads this deck filled with fun synergy, life manipulation and strong combos. This is the most recent of my Strixhaven decks, and as usual I’m constantly testing and improving it! Korvold, the Draconic Railgun *Primer* is one of my main decks and is a blast to play! With this deck your focus is building up Korvold to huge power levels very quickly and then shooting one or all of your opponents for direct instantly lethal damage with various power-related spells and abilities! The deck is very similar in playstyle to this Galazeth deck, and I view them as the Metal Gear Rex and Metal Gear Ray of my commander decks!
