I love the Setessan Tactics trick. I use it in my mono green as well. Boom, a million Insects!

Do hydras work with packleader?

November 9, 2014 6:55 p.m.

egriffiths says... #4

yes, as it says put x onto the battlefield, so as long as broodmaster is monsteroused as at least 3 itll be 3 3/3 on the field triggering packleader 3 times (if you choose to) as pack leader states you may draw so you can choose not to

This seems pretty great, but a terror to play against. Any particular decks give this one trouble during playtesting? I assume those turn-4-or-less-win decks are about it.

having the ramp burnt out with lighteing strike and stuff can be a real struggle, my main problem deck was abzan because of heroes downfall and utter end and stuff like that, bu since adding the doom engine and phytotitan to the side board against it works ok against them because even i they destroy them they loose out

gurraks hordleader eww noo srry but not a fan of a 5 drop for only one card draw you need more devotion in the deck and the hordleader only has one noo

Man, you have to run a bunch of Karametra's Acolyte. It's really more OP that it looks.

I will have to disagree with Clones16 and suggest a full set of Polukranos, World Eater. It's one of the greatest win cons available to green. Most of the time, your opponent is going to try and wipe it off the board before you even make it monstrous so you're going to want extra to be able to deal some damage. Also, if you already did a board wipe with one, then all you have to do is pay an extra 4 to drop another one, sac your current one, and have another board wipe ready to go. That's only if you get really desperate though.

I also suggest Arbor Colossus for flying help. It's only a 5 drop. Gives you a massive 3 devotion to green. Is already a 6/6 with an easy pump ability to make it a destructive 9/9. AND you can destroy ANY flier of your choice with it's monstrosity, no matter how big it is and can help get around deathtouch. I find him to be one of the greatest assets in my deck.

Although I love the draw power that the Packleader presents, I agree that he is a little slow and doesn't offer much devotion for his size.

I'm afraid that I came to agree with an OP_Magikarp. Damn, that splash ability is just so good. I mean, Arbor Colossus is really great (especially with Karametra's Acolyte, his BFF).

i considered arbor but decided not to in the end as with the hornet nest and settessan combo available im able to creak alot of flying death touch not just desroying one also heres hornent queen in side board.

as for karametra i did run 2 voyaging and 2 acolytes at one time but droped them as if the voyaging untaps a nykthos the mana gained is the same but voyaging is only a 2 drop

You should really work on that curve

And if Nylea, God of the Hunt is your main win con then you should use a playset

Really not a fan of Hydra Broodmaster. It's a win more card. If you can get enough mana to make his monstrous worth it, you should already be winning the game. I would suggest replacing it with 2 Hornet Queen and 2 Nissa, Worldwaker

November 17, 2014 10:41 p.m.

OP_Magikarp says... #22

I HIGHLY approve of Hydra Broodmaster. In a green ramp deck, you can have 6 mana by turn 3, and playing a 7/7 turn 3 doesn't exactly sound like a win more situation to me. It's greatest asset isn't exactly it's avility to make massive hydras, but more on it's ability to spam the field. Mid to late game you may have run out of cards because of all the cheap mana dorks you're dropping and you need a way to produce more creatures. Broodmaster is amazing with overwhelming your opponent and is DEFINITELY a win con as long as it isn't removed before being made monstrous. just making him monstrous for 4 is solid enough. (You just effectively added 20 power to your side of the board for only 9 mana). Although I don't see it run as much in larger tournaments, I think it is a very useful card and will be utilizing it when I attend said tournaments.

You should consider a Heroes' Bane. with a hydra that doubles every turn, your particle invincible, exspecialy if you can give it trample, perhaps with Tuskguard Captain.

Have you ever thought about adding Nissa, Worldwaker? I think that maybe one or two would be great.
