majicdolphin I like it, didn't know that card was out there. That's why I post stuff here, as a total noob I have no idea what all is available to put in decks. Thanks for the advice.

Hey man, what I would recommend for a budget deck like this is a few Pharika's Cures. Also add in 2 more insatiable harpy's. Just get rid of blue, and add in a Desecration Demon.

Moneymankillz Thanks, I don't have any Desecration Demon , but I am fairly certain that I am already sitting on at least a couple Pharika's Cure .

Underworld Connections and Read the Bones are great with Whip of Erebos . Pack Rat is pretty good here and if you have the money to throw down Mutavault

I think a Deathgaze Cockatrice would fit in better then Insatiable Harpy imho since whip gives you lifelink. +1 looks solid, much more so then the intro deck it started out as =)

JamezZhanith I agree, didn't even consider that, thanks for pointing that out. I am fairly certain that I already have several Deathgaze Cockatrice sitting around.

Okay let me see if can give some decent advice here. You can drop the price of this budget deck by removing the agent of the fates as you dont really have anything thing in here to target him with to trigger his heroic. i am thinking he is in here for his two towards devotion and having a decent toughness though. that can be solved with a couple of Rakdos Shred-Freak one turn earlier plus haste and still the same devotion even though he is a bit weaker he could fit. Besides you have the awesome phalanx for blocking with. I was going to ask why the guildgate but its obvious now.Maybe add a second one to be sure you can utilize those guys. Price wise it is a little more but for devotion to get a nice lifegain from gary and to add a constant source of draw power i would choose Underworld Connections over Read the Bones Still plus one for the budget MBD

Quadsimotto Didn't really set out to make a budget deck to be honest. That just came about when someone pointed it out in a previous comment. I have been considering pulling the 2 Agent of the Fates for 2 Deathcult Rogue that I noticed sitting in the collection unused. I don't believe I have any Rakdos Shred-Freak , but the girlfriend might. I try to make playable decks without having to purchase singles, booster packs are like Christmas morning, and I have been on a good run lately as far as pulling good cards.

Hell that rogue will do just fine being well pretty much unblockable.

Wouldn't Liliana's Reaver be a better card to replace the Deathgaze Cockatrice while still remaining on the somewhat cheaper side of things? It keeps the same devotion, has deathtouch, and can help with getting more devotion on the field and it is a bit stronger being a 4/3. Also, i am a big fan of the Deathcult Rogue to replace the agents. Very nice deck so far, i will give it a shot. +1 from me!

Oops, i am still fairly new to the game, i didn't realize tokens don't count toward devotion! Sorry!

Ender97w I will have to think about Liliana's Reaver . I like Deathgaze Cockatrice in the deck to help with any potential flying that I might come up against. Deathcult Rogue is as good as in the deck at this point. A nearly unblockable creature in the deck would be excellent. If you try it I hope it works out for you, all the playtesting I have done so far has gone better than I had hoped it would.

thepropa If I happen to pull it Returned Phalanx can attack, that's it. Not really looking to do a lot of attacking with those guys, but the option is potentially available.
February 22, 2014 4:21 p.m.
Well, I figured as much but a single one isn't gonna do you much good in that regard (cf. card odds). Why not run them as a playset if this is what you're going for? It's not like they are expensive ...
February 22, 2014 4:39 p.m.
thepropa Not concerned enough about it to buy any and I only own the 1 at the moment. Returned Phalanx is going in there either way as a solid 2 drop defender, so I threw in the 1 that I had. It is a "if I draw it great, if I don't still great" kind of situation.
February 22, 2014 4:49 p.m.
Eh, I guess. I'm just saying, it's like 2 Eurocent for an entire playset where I come from.
February 22, 2014 5:03 p.m.
Personally, I would get rid of 1 Gray Merchant of Asphodel and 1 Rescue from the Underworld and throw in a couple of Corrupt . I built a mono-black with roughly the same concept, (Self-Cannibalization) You can definitely get more mileage out of Corrupt (especially mid-late game with 9-10 swamps on the field.)
Overall though, very solid!
May 6, 2014 7:04 p.m.
RaSkipper That is excellent advice. I have been getting almost no use out of Rescue from the Underworld lately and looking for something to swap out at least 1 of them for. Thanks for the tip!
May 6, 2014 10:44 p.m.
If it's barely doing you any good, I'd change the recommendation to losing 2 of them in favor of Corrupt . Gray Merchant is still a wicked card, I wouldn't pull him unless his cost is messing up your mana curve.

Deathcult Rogue is really useless compared to Agent of the Fates
June 10, 2014 10:20 a.m.
Paoler The consistent 2 unblockable has been way more useful than deathtouch almost every time I have played the deck. Not having anything to trigger heroic was a big factor for pulling it out.
June 10, 2014 5:48 p.m.
oh i guess you have a point , but i think Agent of Fates would be still better if you put in some "buff" to tigger :) , anyway great first try ! +1 for me !

remove the Dimir Guildgate because its usless because theres no reason you need blue mana in this deck and replace it with more Swamp
