Commander / EDH Goblins Haste Mono-Red Tokens

PlupFan

Zada literally eats Tuktuk in the lore, no joke, google it.

Zada, Goblin Girlboss has one game plan and one game plan only: pump tokens. Her cast trigger can copy instant and sorcery spells that target Zada and Zada alone, so going wide can give cheap red spells a lot to work with. Zada’s ability can turn even the most measly 1/1 tokens and forgotten dorks into big beaters, so we want to go as wide as possible to ensure big payoffs for our spells. Zada’s low CMC means that we can focus more on token generation early game as opposed to ramping hard. Every creature you control becomes deadly when Zada’s crusty ass hits the board, so don’t be shy about playing small things, even mid and late game. Use the brain cells you save not thinking about strategy to do all the math needed during your combat steps. Cheap red draw spells can net you an insane amount of value when targeting Zada, so spells like Expedite and Fists of Flame become explosive finishers when cast at the right time.

Surprisingly, opponents probably won’t like watching you struggle to do middle-school addition homework for the better part of your pre-combat main phase and they will most likely have responses. Zada’s ability is a cast trigger, so opponents countering your instants and sorceries won’t usually be a big issue. Removal is the biggest threat to the Zadanian game plan, as well as counterspells saved for Zada herself. Getting your board out fast or holding onto your red counters are the best ways to ensure Zada, Cheeto Eater sticks around for a bit. Late game, I’ve found the best strategy is to complain loudly to your playgroup when Zada gets sent back to the command zone, so they’ll hopefully leave you alone for a couple turns until you draw two more lands. This has the admitted downside of getting you kicked out of playgroup group chats, but that’s ok, because winning is more important than your friendship with whoever just played Elesh Norn and invalidated your deck.
